Has anyone had a CF-52 mk2 or mk3 apart? I'm looking to see if the processor has a socket or is soldered. I've been through a few service manuals but couldn't find any real details on the mb.

if it is anything like the cf-51 it is not soldered and should be a not too challenging cpu change. .....Driller
it has a 965 intel chipset which I have found on another laptop, not panasonic, which has allowed upgrading the cpu from a 667FSB to a 800FSB. I'm not sure but the later model cf-52 may even take the jump from a 800FSB to an even higher level. don't quote me on that though. I've been looking for a reasonable priced cf-52 to try it out on. maybe......

that may be one of the units that has the cache with only 3MB on the cpu and a lower wattage. The ones I've been eyeballing and wanting to try out a T9600 cpu with 6MB cache on to see if it would work............Driller

Finally got in touch with the seller on ebay with the 52 mb. He says the processor is soldered.
Basically I'm looking for a semi rugged that will handle HD video and hopefully upgradeable down the road. My 73 mk5 will do it but it completely uses all resources, gets very hot and eventually locks up.
Just purchased a 52mk2 with the 2.4 dual core and wuxga screen.

My MK1 CF-30 plays 1080p HD with no problems. It doesn't have the resolution in the display, but the video doesn't stutter. Certainly no heat issues.
