    I have a CF-52 (I know, it's not a real Toughbook ;-) and I need to upgrade the 160GB drive. I'm looking at the Hitachi Travelstar 500GB
A call to Toughbook Support revealed that they had never tested drives this large on the CF-52, but it would probably work.
I'm wondering if anyone on the forum can offer some sage words of wisdom?
    Thanks!
    Peter.

Yes, it is a REAL Toughbook in every sense of the word. Is it fully rugged? No, but it is infinitely more rugged than your standard Dull or HP limp wristed toys. I have one (and a CF-74, it's smaller cousin) and for their purpose they cannot be beat. Oh, and I have seen at least a 320GB HD in a 52 working without a hitch. But I cannot say yes or no to the 500GB on whether it will work or not.

    Go for it
    Not tested on the cf-52 ,but I have 320GB installed in my cf-30 mk-1 and I have a 500GB installed in my cf-30 mk-2

Neither of these are officialy supported drives, and they both work fine
Report on your full model number , and If you replace the drive report back with results

At worst, you might have to partition a drive. It my opinion a good idea anyway!

Your damn right it is!! My mother has one and it's a beast and a half!! Very powerful! Anywho, don't worry about size... any size LAPTOP hard drive on the market these days will work with this guy - SATA interface

    Thanks!
