    Hello all;

Thanks for reading this thread, first and foremost. I don't come here often but the last time i came i had a CF-30, which i gave to my dad so he could use in his office. Great gift. Did everything i could to it but I came across this CF-52 and i couldn't pass it up. Seemed to work fine, but now, on occasion, i get THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! *shivers*

Anyways, this is what i gathered from it:

I don't know what this means. If you tell me what it is, and if its fixable, i'll give it a shot. Other than that, sometimes the screen will go off, then on, then a message will display on the taskbar saying
I don't know if this is related. Thanks again, and stay healthy guys.

Did you load the OS or are you using it from when you bought it?

What anti virus are you running?

What are you doing when you get the BSOD?

What programs have you loaded recently that may have caused this problem?

    What model is it? (CF-52XXXXXXX)

    - JK. W7 32 bit
    - Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials
    - I'm usually on chrome with 5-8 tabs open
    - It's random. It doesn't start with any specific program.
    - Its a CF-52GGNBP2B

    Model Number:
    CF-52GGNBP2B Status:
    DISCONTINUED MSRP:
    $1,929

Description: WinXP (Win7 COA), Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz, vPro, 15.4" WXGA, 160GB, 2GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, Multi-drive, No Bluetooth, Lightweight BatteryGobi, Toughbook Preferred

My thought is that you may have loaded the wrong video drivers for W7. I'd reload the OS... This isn't a hardware issue... It is a software issue... I'd bet on that.

    EDIT: WINDOWS 2000?

Stick with it. Did you download the drivers straight from Panasonic? I can give you a link. It looks like you have the Win7 COA on the bottom so you should be legal. Perhaps the prior owner needed Win 2000 for diagnostic use... Or they were a moron... Who knows?

Just reload it and load the correct drivers. You should be golden! If you RELLY want to speed it up... Max ut the RAM and buy an SSD!

Maybe you could give it try. Remove all the ram but first unplug on AC and then the battery before removing the ram. Now! just install one ram at a time, then observe if it will give you BSOD. If it give, remove and then install the other and then observe again. Maybe one of the two got a problem or maybe both. Replace with a known good one, then observe again. I recommend this coz ram also allocated on video. If you have defective ram it will give you an BSOD. Let us know the result. Good Luck!

If your 52G (MK2) has a W7 COA on the bottom then I would call Heartland Services and buy ($35.00) the restore disk, you would have it in 2 days. No messing with drivers, just load up the restore disk and in 30-40 minutes you are done.

I think I'll have groundhog for dinner. Roasted Punxsutawney Phil.

Surprisingly there are many recipes for Woodchuck (A.K.A. Ground Hog, Whistle Pigs, Pasture Pigs, etc.). Woodchucks are fatty, however it is claimed the fat does not have a bad taste but is still is generally removed. The meat is dark with a mild flavor and will work in any squirrel or rabbit recipe. Woodchucks have scent glands in the small of the back and on the inside of the forelegs which must be removed. If the Woodchuck is old (look how worn teeth and claws are,) it should be parboiled or soaked before cooking, some cooks always soak woodchucks in cold salted water for 6 to 12 hours. The Older Woodchucks will also benefit parboiling in water with a 1/2 teaspoon or more of baking soda.

Well on the computer>properties thing it says 4GB of RAM, 3.15 usable, so maybe it was upgraded after. And what's life without a little LOL?

I will try this after i do the software troubleshoot, hopefully the restore cd fixes it.
Yeeees i do have the sticker at the bottom of the laptop. I will order this ASAP. Thanks. A lot.

Any recommendations as far as SSD?

I like the Kingston HyperX 300 Series SSD or the Samsung EVO 840 Series... Others like Intel.

Blair... Are we 100% positive that a W7 Recovery Disk will work here? His Toughbook came with XP downgrade by W7 COA... What is the word on that?

Well that's a good question, he did say it has the W7 COA on the bottom...I think . If it was down graded to XP then would it not have a XP COA ? Heartlands should be able to tell him which one he can use on it .

With an XP downgrade, you get the COA for the OS you are downgrading from. You need an XP COA to reload XP without an XP restore disc. At least that is how it has worked for me, Vista and W7.

cf52g only has 1 bios so it should not matter. I think the restore disk will check if it's a cf52g or not, and that's all.
I agree with Teo. Check the memory sticks.

I have used Intel , Kingston HyperX , Samsung and SanDisk. Stay away from OCZ (in chapter 11 bankruptcy) SSD's for now, they are having problems and have been dumping some of there SSD's cheap. Toshiba is buying them which is good but they have a lot of old stock left to sell. News | OCZ Technology Investor Relations . I have 3 Intel's but if you are buying new these will cost you a lot more. The Kingston HyperX and the Samsung SSD's you can get at very good prices at newegg.com on sale...$69-$89 for 80-120GB and $129-$159 for 240-250GB . I also bought 1 OCZ to see how it worked and because of the price $39.99 shipped (80GB). Sign up for newegg's daily deals and you will get a email every day letting you know what is on sale for that day.

I have noticed that if you get one with the 7 COA and it was a factory XP downgrade it won't auto activate on 7. It's like they didn't put the code in the bios.

I had 3 nearly identical CF-52GG's that the Configurator said were Win7 with XP downgrade. Loaded the Pany factory CD for Win7 on each, no issues. Two of them actually auto-activated but one did not.

I have only tried it on the CF-19 MK3, CF-U1 and a CF-H1 all with the same non-activating results. I haven't been using a factory restore disk with mine. Just my Dell basic OS disk.
