Looking for a little input. New assignment comes with new computer. Trying to decide between CF-52 and CF-53. Screen size is not that much of an issue as I use a 21" remote display in the office, your thoughts? Yes Rob, I'll be getting in touch :)
    CAP
    Maybe CF-53JVML21M

Well Cap I have them both and I ended up using the 53 as my main laptop. I bought them with less than 100 hours on them back Oct 2012. I was using them side by side the first few months but found I was using the 53 more. The screen is nice and bright and with a SSD installed it boots up in 18 seconds. Springfield has one to and he likes his too...he has the touchscreen model.

I haven't had my hands on a 53 yet but besides size and weight the 52 still has the dedicated graphics option. It will just depends on your needs for the pc.

I don't really need dedicated graphics, I use my Mac with a 27" high def monitor for post processing NEF raw files. No gaming and we've got a Panasonic plasma for the boob tube. This is for business. Can't believe I haven't heard from Rob yet.

I would go with the CF-52 model because of the much better screen, even if you will not use it (like you are saying). You will not use it now but who knows for the future? And replace the HDD with SSD of course :)

I sure do like my CF-53. Was using a CF-52A, not the latest but had discrete graphics with Win7 64 bit and 8 GB memory. Like CAP I don't game or need fancy graphics. Right after I got the CF-53 it became my favorite. Real fast with an SSD, plenty of power with Core i5, and the slightly more compact size is just right for my uses and seems a bit more sturdy then the larger CF-52. Also has USB3 although maybe CF-52 has that now too.

The integrated graphics they have out now will play a lot. The CPU power has come a long way too. You can really tell a difference on a older single core machine. The dedicated graphics will help take some of the strain off of the CPU as it doesn't have to render graphics and run the rest of the system too.

Well, I used to use a 52 without the graphics card. Since I switched to one with dedicated graphics I don't notice any more speed, just odder screen resolutions. Like I said, for intensive graphics I use the Mac which has both integrated and discrete graphics. It switches automatically depending on graphics load. Of course the 53 has a touch screen and emissive keyboard. Thanks for the input so far, Rob?

The CF-53 has HDMI out which the CF-52 doesn't have. If you take it on the road you can easily hook it up to a HDTV.

We have a little house and I can only get 8' max from the screen. The 42" gets the job done. It is a sweet picture. Rob!

That is a great deal on a $1500 computer. Methinks too great from a guy who only sells reel to reel tape recorders and last sold something in 2008. This will be my last new computer and since it's on someone else's dime I think I'll get the one I want, thanks.

One should always take a look at feedback on any eBay listing which looks TGTBT. The scammers hack inactive accounts for their ripoff attempts. I sold a $3700 gold coin once

Cap got a CF-53MK2 and from what I understand he likes it a lot. I use this every where now since battery life is much better than my CF-30...I get a good 6 hours on a charge.

I was just talking to Jeffe the other evening (east meets west) and highly recommends this toughbook. He's got a line on someone that has quite a few of these available. A PM might be a great find! Enjoy, Cleve
