Ok, this may be stupid but im lost....ive acquired a cf-52 with a 1tb hdd, before I had the files to redo windows(Still had the other persons things on it), I loaded Ubuntu to play around with it...well got everything, did a reload of windows 7 ultimate and re did Ubuntu along with it...now my issue is it is showing windows to only have a 362 gb hdd...used gparted and look and it shows four different partitions....can someone help me straighten this out...or do I need to completely blank it and start from scratch.... http://forum.notebookreview.com/images/smilies/confused2.gif

Great question, sure this will get sorted out. Did you install Ubuntu with the "Windows Installer" or did you load a Live Disk and install alongside Windows? i.e., if you go into Windows now and look at the programs installed, is Ubuntu listed as an "installed program" ? Ubuntu (Linux) is easy to re-install at a later date. Me thinks if things do not get sorted out you might want to do a fresh install of Windows 7 and then go from there.

Paging Sadlmkr.......Ubuntu dual boot question...Line one...........
-
both times have been live loaded along side Windows...Windows and ubuntu both were fresh install (ubuntu twice now Windows once lol)but I'm wondering if somethings got carried over instead of deleting...or I just messed up some where(very possible...Did this at work between trucks)

And I talked with Jeff but forgot to all once I found this lol....

I don't know why Windows is showing 200GB less for its partition, But if it was me, I would use GParted to remove the extended partition. then try to extend the windows partition to the whole drive and then reinstall Linux. I have to say I have never heard of this problem and I have never had to use GParted. Wouldn't hurt to see what others have to say first.

If above advice does not work- I would just re-install a fresh install of your preferred OS
( if Windows) then would clone the system after doing All updates and putiing on Virus/Spyware/Malware/CCCleaner- Acronis worked well for me and allowed me to make 3 hard drives for my CF-19's. Then, if you liked Ubuntu- would install using Windows method with WUBI from Ubuntu site- Hope things are better now- please report back with results- Cleve -
The weird is the extended gb 365gb or so appears to be what Windows is launching from because that's what shows for size on the Windows side

I did what you did, with the exception that I had two partitions. I was as unhappy as you are with the result, though it was workable. My next install will go like this. I will use Win7 to partition my 250GB HDD into two 50GB and 1 larger 150GB one (roughly...).
So I came up with the following strategy. On the first 50GB partition I will install Win7-Pro and let it make its small system partition there as well. I will then install Ubuntu 13.04 on the second 50GB partition and let it also make any system partitions it needs there, if any.
The last large 150GB partition will be all my data, ie "My Documents" in Win7. Both OS's will then be able to access and save to this partition. Make sure that it is formatted NTFS. -
Thanks all...I gotta get some time to get back on it...wife's been busy on it..guys she likes it lol...but the only issue is my partitions doing is on accident...minus the dual boot lol...I'm going to try to avoid having to black and redo every thing but I gotta figure out which partition is which....
-
Well I don't know when I'll get back on it...wife is waiting some serious test results...so free time kind of died right now...
-
You send it over here any time and I'll fix you up.
Best wishes.

Thanks Jeff, still no answers for her yet....she's a nervous wreck...a guy at works got an imaging software he said might help make a Windows image..then start from scratch lol...still haven't had time to fool around with it though
