Just acquired a CF-52 that came from Panny without a wireless card, ordered an intel card, installed it used drivers that came with it, and installed wswitch program, it is recognized in bios and device manager shows it is working, ext switch is on but no lights, when use "connect to network" get an error " no network found" try diagnose and get " switch off, use either ext switch or key to turn on" . I have talked with panny tech support, had me uninstall reinstall switch software, drivers, use recovery disk on a fresh install, it always shows in bios & device mgr as working, he went to a senior tech , was told to remove batt, remove card, wait 10 min, reinstall with grey wire & blue wire ( they said green) different than was shown in the thread "strange issue with wireless card not found in bios".
Am using Vista if that matters

I am guessing that its is windows that is not communicating with the card as opossed to an hardware issue, fyi I tried a card from a dull and same thing occured. any suggestions?

    Thanks

Appreciate the help, it was not ordered from panny, do I try pin 13, 0r 20?
its a CF-52 DCCDZBM and an Intel 5300 card if that helps. or do you suggest a different brand of card,
    Thanks RC

    Depends of the type of ur card. Mini-PCI -> pin 13, Mini-PCI-Express -> pin20 :)

A 52 has the Mini pci-e, so it would be pin 20.

yes the wifi switch is on and the wifi is working , connected to internet, have the signal streinght display in the taskbar, but not the wswitch icon, and no led's next to the manual switch behind the handle. as I said it was shipped from panny without the wifi card, and the card matches the one that panny sells but it did not come from panny

Yes it is the software application switch that I am referring to, but also the physical on-off switch will not disconnect the wifi connection when connected to internet. The wifi card is on full time. The icon I am referring to is the orange dot with lightning bolt. Panny tech support advises thay will referr to a senior engineer and get back to me.

I really appreciate all the assistance this forum provides, I have done the dvd upgrade on a CF-29 - excellent..

    Thanks, rc

U taped pin 20 -> So now u have no hardware-control over ur wifi-card ;-) . Use the intel software instead or u can deactivate and activate it via windows-wifi-control.

Ok I have a laptop that did not come with wireless or Bluetooth. However I have been reading for almost two weeks all your posts and some others out there. I purchased an Intel 5100 Mini Card-e and a 5300 Mini Card-e. I received the Intel Mini Card-e today and I installed on my CF-52 Model number 52FKN10AM (originally no wireless or Bluetooth).
I removed the speaker cover and installed the wireless card (5100) with a tape over the pin 20. I when into the Bios and I saw the wireless Switch was "Enable". Nevertheless, when I turn on the laptop and login to windows still cannot find hardware (wireless mini card-e). I installed the Intel 5100 drivers that came with it and it's also saying that could not found the hardware. Now I did called Panasonic Parts 888-808-4835 and they give me part number N5HZC0000038 as the wireless Mini Card-e for any Model CF-52 Panasonic laptop actually (so the parts tech said when I asked).

Now I will received this Original part on Monday but the cost and the shipping exceed the $200.00, very expensive compare to None OEM solutions, so I have found in this forums.

Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, why if I even taping the pin 20 on the Intel 5100 still won't not show or function, it is perhaps because the Mini Card-e to use is 5300 instead of the 5100 ( I will received that one as well on Monday to try it too)

    Thanks in advance.

No it doesn't and of course Panasonic Tech support plays dumb. I think I need a different version Bios because I did come across a update on a Panasonic website from another country that took that option out.

    Moochman,

Have you read the stickies and gone to the appropriate Panny sites for download of wireless software and drivers?
