I have a CF-52FKN10AM. The screen is becoming dark around the edges but still bright in the center of the screen. I suspect the inverter is going bad. It has the 15.4" WUXGA screen. Will any CF-52 inverter work (MK1, MK2, MK3, etc)? I also have an inverter from at CF-74J. Wonder if it might work?

No, it needs to be from a WUXGA model. A WXGA inverter is different.

    Part number should be..................

    hmmm ...
i don't believe the inverter would cause those symptoms ...
the ccfl is more likely to be the culprit .

as long as you gotta crack it open ...
now might be a good time to think about changing over to a LED light source .

Inverter will normally start showing a red tint on start up,you can replace the entire lcd for about $65 with a new ccfl included or go the led route. I deal with East Coast LCD on Amazon,he has never let me down. :D

Is the WUXGA screen typically dimmer than the WXGA? I have a CF-52P and a CF-52D. Both of them are so much brighter that the CF-52F. My CF-53 blows them all away but that is a different screen altogether.

Even my CF-52(S) MK4 is a lot dimmer than my 53 . The 53 is way brighter.

    The 52P has LED backlight.
As far as I know ALL of the CF52's with the WUXGA screens have CCFL backlights. Mk3 and later with WXGA have LED backlight.
The CF52 WUXGA CCFL models are less than 200 nit. Yep they suck..
I have all of the parts here to convert my CF52N with WUXGA to LED backlight. Just need to put it on my mods schedule.

I do have an extra inverter. I found it in my LED conversion box with my extra LCD panel.

yeppers ... it is about as bright as the headlight on a p-ants' motorcycle .
i dropped the ball on converting my '52 as well ... too much other crap going on .
it is not that i put it on the back burner ... it's more like up on a high shelf ... literally .
i cannot stress enough how much improvement there is that comes with swapping over to led illumination .
