I purchased this on ebay recently with no HD. I installed a 500g ssd and purchased the restore disks. It all seems to work ok except I have no touchscreen and no way to access the fp reader.

    Help appreciated!

FPR won't work unless security is enabled in BIOS and a BIOS password is set.

Is the touchscreen enabled in BIOS?
    Is the touchscreen functional?

Live boot a Linux distro and tell us what you get. Maybe try MX-17
