Our organization purchased four of the CF-54 with gloved multi-touch units, after many years of using CF-29/30/31's. We are starting to seriously regret this purchase.
We have significant issues with the touch screens behaving erratically. After an unspecified, and apparently random, period of use it is as if there is something phantom touching the screen - you can see a round circle randomly appear somewhere on the screen as if something is touching it, this happens repeatedly, and the only thing that gets rid of it is a hard reboot. If you try and use the mouse/trackpad, the "phantom" keeps repeatedly taking control of the computer. If we use a plastic stylus instead of finger touch we have slightly better success, but not for long. Because the "phantom" clicks pretty much take over the computer, there is no opportunity to save any of the data before rebooting. This isn't exactly sitting well with my users.
There don't appear to be any updated drivers from what we are running on Panasonic's site. Anyone else have these issues with this style of screen, and/or a suggested fix?

Are you having this problem with all 4 of them ?

Yes, I have had the same issue reported from all four units.

We only have a couple members that has the 54 (Rob and Toyo) and they never reported this type of problem. Did you change anything in the bios. You could go into the bios and "Load Default Values" save and restart. The 54 should be still under warranty so I would call Panasonic .

Did you install any software?
Windows7 or 10? -
On the 29/30 this would sound suspiciously like build up behind the bezel. Dust, crumbs etc.
On this 53 I'm using there is no space like the 29/30 had so it's not a problem. I have never handled a 54.
Next would be heat and after that cabling.
The other thing it sounds like is gps with the unit thinking gps is a mouse.
Have you:
Run a fingernail between screen and bezel while this is going on?
If gps equipped, disable gps in bios?
Another thought, can you experiment on one with a Linux LiveCD?(USB)
Strange,..... good luck.

"Our organization purchased four of the CF-54 with gloved multi-touch units ..."
"gloved" is not registering in my mind ... please explain further .
i would hazard that if the problem were crud under the bezel actuating the touch screen that the chances of all four units exhibiting the same problem within a short period of time is rather small .
the word "organization" implies a *work environment* where the machines get a lot of hours of "touch screen use" ... perhaps this is why the problem has shown up relatively early in the game .
if the machines get opened/closed a lot , then the internal cabling might be going bad .
it may even be that the touch screen itself is heading south (qc problems of a particular run of screens/devices) .
if the units are still under warranty ... send them to an authorized service center ... if you turn a screw on them , panasonic can void any and all warranties .
if they are out of warranty , call panasonic or the company you bought them from and raise a little hell ... the odds of four machines going gunny-bag at the same time is a key point .
as an aside ...
does anyone recall the problem a guy was having about a year ago with his panasonic *tablet* ?
it had something to do with stress points behind the screen itself , causing "white dot" .
this may also be something similar causing erratic operation .Last edited: Aug 15, 2016toughasnails likes this. -

This is surprising. I have had zero issues with the TS on my 54. I am amazed at the improved usability of it compared to the TS on my 30.
A couple of thoughts I can think of.
Clean the edge's/bezels as suggested above. A sharp toothpick is what I have found to work good. The TS units have a protective screen/sheet on them from the factory.
Reset all the calibrations. If you are using W7 you will have 2 totally separate programs for doing this. Windows and the Panasonic/Fujitsu programs.toughasnails likes this.
