Hi, I've just recently bought a CF-50 :) and was wondering  if the 2 Gb DDR-2 SODIMM 200pin memory was compatible as an upgrade in my laptop RAM ? Or should I stick to the 1GB DDR? :D
    Thanks arch240

Note: If what I asked seems obvious to you, then please explain it to me in noob baby talk, thank you again :)

DDR2 will NOT work with DDR, this has been discussed before, search before you start a new thread.

If you are running XP, the upgrade from 1GB to 2GB will make very little difference.

As he stated, he is a noob. A simple no, DDR2 is not compatible with DDR would have sufficed. I was a noob once too and didn't feel too good about being slammed with retort like that either..

    Just my 2 cents..

Thank you for answering my question, :D
I did in fact read the thread about the DDR and DDR2 , but gave it up after having read the first page because people were still arguing whether it would work or not by testing it on their own laptops. :(
I maybe straying form the topic but does anyone have any ideas in what would be upgradeable in a CF-50? I know that a larger hard drive and bigger memory would help in its performance, but what else would help? I don't even know what the specs are in this case. I know I want to put something in the empty ?PCMCIA? slots that it has, I was thinking something that would help in on the graphics side? and any suggestions would be great! :D

Note: Yet again please reply in Noob baby talk :)

Hey there Arch - welcome to the Forum. I dunno if you saw my post on the subject here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=209651&page=3

but for those reasons, DDR2 is NOT compatible with DDR - it won't even plug into the same slot. If you're using DDR already, there's your answer. If not, you can find out for sure by using any of a dozen memory configurators on the WWW (I usually misuse the one on www.memory4less.com myself) to see what is the recommended type/speed/max capacity for your laptop - as long as you go with a reputable supplier or even a major manufacturer site you should be able to get the details you seek; you may even find a price you like. If not, don't feel bad about taking what you've learned and shopping elsewhere - other people buy from them by doing the same thing on other sites.

I usually buy RAM , processors & Hard drives from Newegg if they have what I want; they are typically within 5$-$10 of the cheapest price I can find, and their customer service is as close to a brick & mortar as you can find on the WWW. The only issue is you have to KNOW exactly what you need before you buy.

    Good luck,

    mnem
