Hi everyone and Merry Christmas to all before I get to my question!!
I'm a newbie here and just recently purchased my 1st Toughbook off of Ebay. By my thread title it's obviously a CF-72 :)
My mistake was not doing enough research ahead of purchase as I had no idea how much difficulty I'd have tring to find a connector/cable for this particular model. I love the lap itself, and am near the breaking point trying to get this last piece to complete it.
    My question is two actually:
    1) Is there any other Toughbook HDDrive connector that is compatible with this model?
    2) If not, does anyone here have one for sale at a decent price? (should I post that in the WTB section?)
I've actully found the whole she-bang on Ebay (caddy, connector, hard drive) but the asking price, $125, is a bit over the top!
Here is the model sequence nuimber from mine:
    CF-72N3FQZDM
Any help would or advice be greatly appreciated!

    1) I don't think that the CF-73/74 are compatible with the 72.
    2) Heartland would have it... heartlandsi.com. if the part costs x amount expect that the shipping will be at least $15 because they ONLY do overnight DHL shipping (IE if you buy a $5 part then the shipping will outweigh it lol)

Hey, JB007! Thanks for the suggestion. I went to thier site but when I clicked on store it said COMING SOON. So is this the type of place where I can just contact them thru email and get a quote on a single item. Because I got the impression that they did wholesale in large quantities. Could be wrong, though. I'll email them, see what's up. Take care!

The cable from a CF-37 is compatible with the CF-72 but it may be equally difficult to find.

A lot of surplus toughbooks are missing the caddy/hard drive

The price that you have on the complete unit used is about normal

You have to understand that these laptops sold for over $3000 a few years ago and parts prices are reflective of that, and also there is not a large surplus of caddy’s for any of the toughbooks as the demand is high to make these usable after the original owner takes out the caddy’s to destroy them for security reasons

I have seen the connecter only for sale for about $60 on ebay

tough-2-go is correct , the cf-37 connecter is the same as your cf-72

If you get a connecter only there can be issues locking the connecter to laptop down properly as there is a plastic clip that attaches to the aluminum caddy that locks it down

thanks for everyone's help. I've been trying to figure this out for over 3 weeks but couldn't even find a part number for reference concerning the cf72 part. lo and behold, there is a connector for the cf37 on Ebay, and quite a bit cheaper compared to the one for the cf72. but I will still check with heartlandsi, jb007. thanks all, and MERRY XMAS!!!
