I have a CF-72XCJ and am running XP on it, however when using IE 8 and scrolling it is very choppy and jerky, not smooth. I suspect it is the video card and its drivers and settings, I had the ATI Rage Mobility ? software that is from Pannysonic, but tried the Omega drivers ATI drivers referenced in the cf-72 wiki page. Both have the same results.
My grandson will be using it to play Minecraft which I don't think has crazy high demanding graphics.
It has 2.5 ghz P4M cpu, 1.256 ghz of ram so anybody had this problem? Got a fix?

I think more RAM would help you out. It should be fairly inexpensive for that model.

Minecraft doesn't look like it uses a lot, but it can. I have computers set up for them to play it online. The first one was CF-73 with Pentium M1.7/ATI 9000 and CF-50 Pentium M 1.7/ATI 9600. Even with tweaks these computers had to have the settings turned way down. Minecraft plays ok on them. From time to time I would let them play with my CF-51 Mk3 Core duo 2.0 / 4gb ram / x1300 ati card 128/256 video memory. They have worked up to a Mk3 CF-74 now.
The card you have now is the
ATI Radeon "Rage Mobility M7" with 32 MB of VRAM

This is a lot older card. Than what the minimum specs call for. If you tweak it right I maybe able to get it to work. What version of the omega drivers did you install? Some times going to a older version can help.

I used the Omega 3.8.330, it stunk, if I grabbed the display dialog box and dragged it around it too would stutter! I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the panny driver and it's better but still bogs, especially on IE 8, thanks for posting those minecraft specs ADOR, my son plays and we have an Ubuntu server set up with Minecraft that's ported for web access for him and his friends, my grandson is here for 6 weeks and I am trying to set him up with a TB to take home and play too. It's pretty cool they Skype in a conference audio and play, they have a ball!! I have a few weeks to figure this out, the budget is sorta small

I bought some sunfire servers for the kids to use for their games right now. Minecraft, WOW, HALO etc. Lucked up on them dual power supply voltage and for 50 bucks shipped I got dual, dual core 2.2's with 8gb of ram. I got three of them.
Right now bandwidth is a problem. I got the fastest I can get and it won't work with a lot of players. Was going to get a second line for dedicated but it still wasn't going to be enough. Wound up getting him a cheap temp online sever my oldest boy keeps up.
Austin's Minecraft Server
My oldest boys server, still got to do lots of work on the main page and has been doing his own custom plugins. I dropped him off at collage for a summer programing courses yesterday.
