    Hi all,

On my Cf-73, the Fujitsu Touchscreen Device shows up in Device Manager, yet when I try to calibrate it, there's no response- as though the touchscreen is not installed.

I followed the instructions in the Driver FAQ and like I said above, the hardware shows up as installed, it just doesn't operate.

    Is there something I missed?

Do u have any knowledge of the touchscreen working previously because i have a few screens that are completely unresponsive that end up being bad screens.

I just had the same thing happen with a Cf-74 and it turned out to be a bad screen that was then replaced under warranty, could be same problem if you've already tried to re-install the driver

Sorry for the delay in replying. Been busy with work. Anyways...

Yes, I reloaded the driver 3 times. I got the laptop off of eBay and the model number specifies a touchscreen. I've never seen it to work, though, and the seller said that he never tested to see it it worked- power on and that was it.

So, bad screen is the consensus? What goes bad with them? Could it be a connector issue? I haven't had the screen apart yet (waiting for WLAN antennas to arrive whoohoo!) but once I do, what should I be looking for?

    Thanks!

Have you tried opening the lcd yet? Check all the connection in relation to touchscreen component. If it is necessary to reseated all of those connection posible. But make sure it is not a software issue. I have one unit that purchased on ebay for parts and the seller said that screen is not working no light no nothing. When it arrived i open up right away the sceen panel and I found out that the connection on inverter and ts board are loose. It happen overtime as I observed that by folding up and down the panel the cable inside has tendency to be loose as it has not enough lenght to move freely.

I would say at this point its really one of two things like everyone else suggested, either a loose connection or a bad screen, however with my 74 the touchscreen showed up in device manager as you stated yours does and it turned out to be a bad screen, I would think that if it was a loose or dis-connected wire it would not show up because the computer would not be able to see the hardware, doesn't hurt to still check though

    Check in the bios
    Is the touchscreen enabled

In looking for your driver I saw that there is two drivers available for your model

This is marked for xpsp2 dated 2005

    http://www.panasonic.ca/PDP/Drivers/tscreen_73_3a_d040467.exe

It replaced and earlier driver for xpsp1 dated 2004

Uninstal your current driver if you can

And when you extract it to C:utilitys2 ,open the file and look for a installer file

Try going to the exclamation point, click to reinstall driver, and use the option for a specific location and point to the utility folder where it installed the touchscreen driver. Let us know if this works.

Restoring windows or reinstalling windows and the drivers might work
It might be a hardware issue, read the posts on Toughbook touchscreen not working as it might help

Nope. I'm thinking if it were broken, it would not show up at all. I believe you are still either using the wrong driver, or installing it incorrectly. Maybe one of the veterans can break it down for you step-by-step to verify you haven't missed anything. It's either that, or your screen is a non-touch. What concerns me is you never say that it WAS working, then stopped. Did you buy this from someone else? If so, they could have swapped the touchscreen with a non-touchscreen and left it activated in the bios. I am not sure if that would work, but it could be your problem. Try to give us more detail; what you have tried specifically; where did you get this laptop; did the touchscreen EVER work; step-by-step how did you install the drivers.... Reading up on toughbooks here you will notice that some are VERY sensitive to not only HOW a driver is installed, but even the ORDER in which they are installed. Get back to us on these things and we will see if we can further you along....

IRQ conflicts are quite rare, but cause the “ exclamation point” issue in device manager

To resolve try disabling everything in device manager, except the touchscreen
Then gradually enable items one by one
You have to deal with working in device manager ,changing IRQ settings perhaps to get everything working good
Its easier for me if it is in front of me ,and not easy to explain to someone how to do

Edit; Reading one of the other posts , here's an idea
Try resetting the bios to default values

Not always true, on the CF-74 I had the touchscreen showed up in device manager just fine but did not function at all. All the drivers were installed correctly and thats why I had to send it back to heartland to be replaced

Thanks guys. I'll be popping the touch screen tonight. Now, if I can finish it before I finish the SoCo....this might go very well.

UPDATE!!! Touchscreen now works! I took apart the screen to add a pair of WiFi antennas and while I was there figured screw it, might as well reset all the connectors for the touchscreen. Fired it up and BAM! touchscreen works.

    Thanks for the help guys!
