Hi all,
I recently bought a CF-73 off epay with the following specs;
Intel Pentium M, Centrino 1.4 GHz (1.024 GB RAM, CD-RW/DVD Combo & Win2k Pro COA). Auction description stated, " Included: battery, caddy w/connector, and wireless nic card". "Not included: hard drive and ac adapter". The latter wasn't an issue as I would have replaced a larger HDD and I can still use the CF-50's ac adapter.
When I finally received the package (re-route from Oregon to Singapore*), everything checks out EXCEPT for the missing gel & HDD connector. The seller is looking into it for possible omission and in the worst case scenario, he's gonna refund parcel shipping (partial, I suppose) BUT it isn't gonna help me any. I still need that d@mn connector!!
Question is; has anyone rigged a caddy connector and if not, does anyone here has a parted out 73 with an extra connector to sell?
I've gotten this for my kid who's going to college and while he will begrudgingly use the 28, he finds the 73 'cool'. It's not as heavy, it's faster, plus it has a handle!! In the meantime, to test the unit, I booted Knoppix from CD. Struggling with an unfamiliar OS but at least I know that everything else works!
Any suggestions, advice or offers will be most appreciated. Thanks!!

*It's one of those sellers who don't ship internationally, so I had it posted from NY to a parcel-forwarding service based in Portland - Oregon, which consolidates & re-directs the shipment to SG.

The 73s not all that common as it’s a newer model
One way is
$69.00 us for the caddy connector foam
In a epay store
Do a search

I've seen some but strictly no international whatever... not even parcel forwarding since they insist on Paypal confirmed addresses only. You guys don't know how lucky you are, to have a huge stockpile of used toughbooks domestically.
Will keep an eye on-line but meanwhile, I remain hopeful. -
Hi all,
With Tomcat's watchful eyes, I've gotten a new & complete set of caddy/gel/connector shipped directly to SG for US$93.
I've yet to receive further news from the CF-73 seller regarding the omitted connector and frankly, if I had choice, I'd opt for the connector even if I need to remit some towards postage, than a shipping refund.
Nonetheless, am glad to close this episode and once the caddy is in, I'm gonna run the 73 with Win2kPro. Will update if anything else turns up.
As an aside, I compared a few HDD connectors and none seem to share the same interface. Is it even remotely possible to DIY a set of connectors? I can make do without using the gel and caddy.
Cheers,
Ron in SG
