I was thinking silicone HDD case, styrofoam shim, cheap chinese cable (got a link?) and something to mold to the side of the laptop to hold everything in (any ideas?).

    I'm in U.S..

are you thinking the cheap cables they sell for the 18 and 29 because they are different. The 74 is like the 19 and 52 if I am right ??...sata for one thing and the other end is different too. Without that plastic piece on the end it will not line up right

    Hey Guys,

I travel to Hong Kong about once a year, I attend trade-shows with THOUSANDS of manufacturers and in 2011 I spent A LOT of time / effort trying to find one who can do the CF-74 cable. Cable easy... but not the proprietary connector that attaches to it... no luck without spending A LOT of money with no guarantees... and I consider myself to be pretty good at sourcing. To be honest the one thing that has probably caused me a lot of time and frustration is this !!@#$ cable ;)

As of this point in time, I can guarantee you will not find anyone who can sell you the cable separately.

But best of luck, and if you do find someone, I will humbly bow to you...

    Peace

Take a good look...this is what you need. Like I said and techtuff said never seen one any where before like it  . For me to buy this it cost me $52.40 + s/h($25.00) from heartlands...I had the caddy but no cable.

I have not got around to my CF-74 yet.I did however make a caddy for a CF-73 out of an old Toshiba caddy a bit of cutting and hot glue in the right spot don't ask me what Toshiba as I don't know if I had to guess one of the older Satellite Pentium 3s notebooks I had laying around.
