Anyone have any idea the correct way to get the harddrive out of the carrier on these? I spread the sides and am working from front to rear, which is right, I think, but I worry about the connector at the rear? Any advice?

Medium paper-clips. I use saddle nails. Most people don't have them. :D

But, it goes front to rear? How does the rear attach to the lower?

OK, for the benefit of those people from the future that read this ancient thread...

The problem is that the carrier has some goop in there that is used to keep the cushioning in place. When you separate the top and bottom, start at the front, away from the connector, and spread the sides outward until it starts to release. I used a thin knife blade, just in case you don't have any "saddle nails..." :p

BTW, I am proud and happy to say that I managed this admittedly simple install on my own! My hand is healing! :D

Sorry Bill the nails/ clips were for the cover. I need to slow down and read. Never seen any goop in there.

Those tools of Blair's look promising. There is another guitar pick tool out there for separating front screen bezel from CF-74, 52 etc. and Mo Bile phones. I've actually used a guitar pick (heavy) for this operation.

    Heal well friend,

    J'd

LoL, thanks guys! I got it. with a butter knife blade working free one corner at the time. The "goop" was glue that had overflowed off the cushioning material near the rear of my carrier. It made it feel like I was tearing the flex cable as I was prying the two sides apart, and frankly that made me nervous enough to post.

Thanks Shawn, I am lucky, I never lost my ability to shoot! ; ) Or, I would have been out of work. Really, the whole thing went pretty good but something like the LED upgrade is still beyond me I think!
