Hey guys, I have just upgraded an old CF-74F Mk2from XP to Win7. Now my screen is very washed out looking and I have no audio. I see that I have the SigmaTel STAC9200 sound chip so I "think" that I need the "Sigmatel C-Major STAC 9750 AC97 WDM Audio Driver."

When I try and play audio from the Internet or a sound file it starts the player and I see where it is playing the sound, but I can not hear anything. The hardware is good, because it works fine in Linux.

Oh yeah, what are you guys using for the hotkeys driver?

Any ideas from anyone that has done this OS upgrade?

(Repost from my reply at TBT for future users reference)

I had the same basic problems with two Mk1's I gave my girlfriends two girls. I had to do a bios upgrade though a floppy on a usb floppy drive to update the bios to the vista bios. Windows 7 loaded fine, but some hardware didn't work. Once I updated and loaded the vista drivers for sound and video it worked fine. For hotkeys I used a newer toughbook model I think CF-19 driver for hotkey.

Just checked the Panasonic site and it will need the bios updated for vista like I did on the Mk1, never had to do it for the 74 Mk3/4 versions.

It won't let me put the updated links down.

    bios_74_2_r060257.exe [0.9 mb

Just have to go to the main site, search all drivers, for mk2, then vista upgrade for the links page.

I would think after 1270 posts a guy would KNOW to post the FULL model number.
I guess you can't teach an old pig new tricks.

From what I recall when I did mine, I used the drivers ( full drive image) from a CF30 mk3. The sound issue seems familiar, but I can't recall for sure.
I KNOW that I did not upgrade the BIOS. Mine is at work so sometime today I will boot it up and get the driver info.

On the 2 Mk1 74 models I tried several things to get the sound to work and it was a no go. I decided to try and upgrade the one with the bios Password on it to the visa bios knowing if I did it I would just have to get a wireless card on the Mk4 models I had and just give them one of them. Well after the bios update it took the drivers then no problem and the sound worked. So I went ahead and did the same thing to the second model.

On my CF74G, I have Microsoft high definition Audio device 6.1.7601 for the sound driver. It works fine.

I never installed the Hotkey drivers....

For video I have Mobile Intel 965 Express wddm 1.1 8.15.10.1749
