Hello everyone, been a while since I've been here. I've installed win 8.1 on my CF-C1 mk2 which worked just fine except for the tablet buttons. The brightness and lock work but the keyboard and rotation do not. I followed every driver installation in order but still no luck. I also have win 8 on the same machine and the screen rotation works fine. Anyone have any suggestions?

One HUGE suggestion... Go back to Windows 7!!! Sorry... I know that's not what you are looking for!

FYI... Screen rotation driver installation can be tricky. You may want to look at the threads where people upgraded from XP to W7 for advice!

Strange advice. Win8 is much-much better, especially for touchscreen PCs.

cchoate, I think you have to install Panasonic (or try Intel) video driver. If you are using Microsoft's driver - rotation keys will not work. I'm using Microsoft driver for my CF-19, because Intel doesn't support first gen i5 under Windows 8. And of course Panasonic doesn't too. My rotation keys don't work too, I'm already used to on-screen rotation menu :)

I have a developer based app that will only run in win 8.1 (a wifi sd card that pulls images off my camera wireless). I actually like 8.1 more than 8 so the only thing holding me back is the darn screen rotation as I use that feature often. I will have to try the intel video driver, thanks for the response.

I know a handful of people that like W8... Most do not. Haven't tried it on a touchscreen in all fairness.... Just PCs and I don't think it was really made for a non-touch setup.... Likely tablets.

Still... I'll skip W8 for now.

It's your way, of course :)
A few days ago I've installed Win8 on desktop with 27-inch monitor. I think Metro interface will not be used there, but Win8 is more comfortable and faster in desktop mode (vs Win7). I have to use older OS's sometimes and they really look prehistoric vs Win8 :)
And Win+X key combination is like magic :))

Well, I've tried several video drivers on the 8.1 os and here are the results:

MS basic video driver - no screen rotation
    Intel - no screen rotation
Panny video driver for CF-C1 mk2 for win7 - screen goes black but you can see the pointer when you move it. Tried this 3 separate times with the same results.
Panny video driver for CF-C2 mk1 & mk2 for win8 and 8.1 - while trying to install message pops up saying "machine doesn't meet minimum requirements for driver".

I'm out of ideas. Is there anything else I could try or is it back to win8 for me?

Try using 7-Zip or WinZip to open it up then try to install it.

My tablet buttons work even less than yours:
    either using the brightness tablet buttons or the Fn+F1/F2 keys, as long as I keep pressing them the brightness level changes and the OSD is shown;
but right after release, the brightness goes back to the previous level :(
so the only way to permanently change the brightness, is to use Windows own brightness setting, move pointer in the lower right corner, click on the gear icon, and then the brightness icon...

the other buttons have no effect, except the lock key which works.

I think I'm using the default Win8.1 video driver, but I'll have to check later. nope, Intel driver v9.17.10.3347

I know I didn't manage to install Panasonic Power Management driver, so that's most likely (one of) the cause, and that's also why I cannot set ECO mode on the batteries, or use Panny's power schemes.

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Panasonic\Hotkey Appendix\
    Rename HKEYAPPV.dll. For example to HKEYAPPV_lovewin8.dll :)
    Reboot ;)
P.S. Brightness combinations were Fn+F1/F2. Are they changed in CF-C1? :)

cchoate, what touchscreen driver do you use?
I think one of your drivers has been changed in the process of upgrade Win8 to Win8.1. I think it would be good to compare drivers installed on this laptop and another one (yours Win8).

thanks for the tip ;) that probably disabled the panny hotkey hooks, and it's working - although the Panny OSD is still shown - static this time, doesn't move the slider, but the Win8 one works, and the setting remains.

no, they are still Fn+F1/F2 on the C1 (I've edited my post).

the KB, rotate & user tablet buttons don't register anything, but that's to be expected, because I'm using the Intel driver, and on top of that, the HK dll doesn't get loaded.
