installed the SIMcard reader i took out of an old CF-D1 and a generic EM7305 WWAN card from my workshop. Installed both items in my D1 with windows 10 and unlocked it in the BIOS (toughkit) menu, rebooted the PC and found a EM7305 under network adapters and a smartcard reader "microsoft Usbccid-smartcardreader (WUDF)".

The EM7305 uses the windows driver and it keeps asking for a SIM card... even when I insert one ?! Does the SIMcard reader require a driver, never seen any forum-posts on that ?!

I had that happen and found that I had a bad sim card. Verizon replaced the sim card, and problem went away.

It would be great if you could post photos of the inside of the D1 where you plugged in the sim card slot and the sim card reader itself.

I used a set of WWAN cables from a CF-29.

There is a threaded hole under the corner pieces at top of screen.

There is also a bluetooth antenna area under the fan cover.

I have a 6230 WLAN card in the WWAN position for bluetooth using the two CF-29 antenna mentioned above. Optional Kit 4 in bios.
