Hi, i want to buy a second hand CF-M34 panasonic notebook mk1 version (celeron 300); but i ask you: is this version of cf-m34 with transflective lcd screen? I want to use this notebook outdoor and i bilieve that the transflective version is good for me. I bilieve that the transflective version is sunlight readable and it has not the microphone (a little hole on the botton on the left on the border on the screen). Please help because the seller on ebay do not know the difference between transflective and transmissive.

    Thanks!

No transflective on the CF-M34. Standard LCD only.

Sorry! ST.. but there is a transflective lcd for cf-m34. Its like the 12" screen of cf-28(similar viewing experience).

They must be pretty rare as I have been playing around with them for several years and have yet to see one. Were they on the early models like the 400MHz? If that was the case I can understand why as I never bothered with any under 700MHz. Were they model specific?

My 700MHz was transflective , I replaced it with a normal screen as I don't care for them

@ zemir, I've got a 700mhz transflective available to a good home at a surprisingly reasonable price. PM me for details and pricing. Since you are so new, perhaps Alex would supply me with your email?

I read on this site: http://toughbook.wikispaces.com/cf-m34
that the difference between trasflective version and standard transmissive is in the microphone; the transflective version has not this. Now i want to buy on ebay this notebook: CF-M34T42AAM - PANASONIC CF-M34 CEL 300Mhz 128Mb 4Gb 8"4
The seller does not know if this laptop has transflective lcd or standard transmissive lcd but he says that it has not the microphone. Also, he says, that its lcd screen, when computer is off, is black and little shiny. I am a geologist and i must use a notebook outdoor, so i want a notebook with transflective sunlight readable lcd screen! I see on internet that the transflective version of cf-m34 is from 400 mhz processor, but i don't know why the celeron version would be not trasflective!!

    Thanks!

    Zemir,

I would highly suggest you seriously entertain the offer from Capt. Dogfish. The CF-M34 you mentioned on Ebay, since you did not mention the item number, I am unsure which one you are referencing. However, I am sure that for the price you would be paying for one that is very outdated in specifications, you could get a much faster one with the screen you desire, very possibly for less money. I have had several dealings with Capt D and he is a very knowledgeable and reliable source.

Thanks for your suggest but i have got many other computers and i need a minimal and very basic laptop for outdoor use only. I bilieve to use linux slackware with recompiled kernel without graphical interface. Must to know that linux with recompiled kernel on PII or similar is much more fast that Win XP on PIV!!!

Zemir, When I say a surprisingly reasonable price that's what I mean. I really wish you would get in touch as I have no use for the CF-M34, and I don't really like the daylight readable screen. It is a very clean machine, dual booting Win98 and XP at the moment. I don't want to post a price on the forum as I am not going to get anything like I paid for it 4 years ago and if I'm going to take to take a beating I like to reserve them for people who will appreciate what they have. I have already been contacted by two others but I offered it to you first. It's only electrons, shoot me an email.
