Hi, I've had my CF-P2 about a week and yesterday I noticed it won't let me write a text message?

It receives texts, e-mails and incoming calls, but on the message screen if I click on "new" nothing happens? If I select a contact and tools, and click "send a text message" again nothing happens? I can't even reply to a text it has received?

I've tried the sim in a different phone and it can send texts so it must be a problem with the CF-P2.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

Yes I had read through them a few weeks ago. No-one seems to mention having a problem sending text messages though?

    Possible solution:
First try the SIM in another handset. If it works in the other handset, performa backup using panasonic backup, and then perform a full system reset (hold down reset with stylus and hold down power both for 5 secconds).

If the SIM card doesnt work in another handset it is most likely a network error.

Hi. I did a hard reset and re-booted the phone to the British Gas hobbled version and the SMS function worked?
Then I restored the phone with my most recent back-up and the SMS function stopped working? I'll try the to reset the phone tomorrow using the "full" factory back-up and see if the SMS function works then?

I've tried this numerous times with my CF-P2 and it always hangs at the

    "Data restore ...
Do not tap the screen or press any key"
    screen.

It has been displaying this message for over twelve hours; AGAIN.

Assuming your serial number is the common CF-P2T1H017E+(or CF-P2HBF7E), I'd try following the "Crippled/TomTom versions" reset instructions I wrote at http://toughbook.wikispaces.com/CF-P2 , I had also uploaded a backup file that as worked on most, if not all CP-P2s as far as I'm aware.
Hopefully this should fix your SMS issue.

    Well... it is windows.
    Possible causes might include;
    Bad .baf
    Incorrect password on .baf
    Panasonic backup corrupted
Panasonic backup unable to write to system flash
    etc...

If you can get backup to write the baf from the wikispaces page, then its most definitely something to do with the other baf.
