What average temps are you getting with you CF-T7. I am back to working on mine. Running Speccy to monitor temps. The CPU and Motherboard temps have been staying close to each other. Just running with one or two things going on it stays around 66 to 68 Deg C. When stressing the CPU doing multi tasks like playing a video, virus scan and downloads at the same time it it gets up to 79 deg C with it touching into 80 deg some. I haven't tried any gaming on it yet and the bottom gets really hot. I never had the T5 get that hot, do these units run this hot normally? Or is it time for me to split the case and look at the pads/paste?

I plan on doing more tweaks and trying out a modded graphics driver to see what I can get out of it, but need to get the temps right first.

I don't have a CF-T7 but the temps sound a little on the high side to me. I would refresh the thermal paste/pads.

    +1.

What OS are you running on it, BTW?

I have loaded windows 7 pro on it on a Intel G2 SSD. I plan on keeping it to replace the T5/W5's I have. I though the temps sounded a little high. That is why I wanted to double check.

There is some sort of Intel Fan utility that needed to be updated on my CF-T7 running W7....

I haven't got that working on my unit yet either. I was going to download "speedfan" to see if it would work. My fan is working and I can hear it spinning harder under increased load.

Don't know how hard it is to get to the fan, but if you do crack the case to check the thermal pads be sure to clean the fan well. I always give a shot or 2 of compressed air into the fan grill as part of any refurb and sometimes a nice dust cloud comes out :cough: :cough: But recently after doing that to a CF-73 the fan was still running hard & loud. It is easy to get to the CF-73 fan just pop off the hinge cover panel above the keyboard. I was surprised the fan blades still looked dusty. After cleaning them directly with more air and replacing the panel, it ran much quieter (and I assume was cooling more effectively).

When I do fan blow air cleans out I take them to the shop and hit them with 120 psi blast, ( do the desktops once a month like that) keep away from laptop keyboards are you will be missing several keys, lol. This unit has a few screws missing so someone may have been inside it before. There is no telling. I guess between the relocating the engine in the 52 and a few other things around the house I will split it open and see what I have. I don't think we have any good inside shots of the T7 so I will have to take some.

Hope to get this unit apart Monday after the kids are in school after the weekend.

I took a screen shot on the other problem I have on this unit. All other exe's work fine. Even ones I put on after this. The portable versions of this software do the same thing. They try to open up in firefox as a download. When opened in firefox they show the background picture of the program. I can take these files and put them on another pc and they work. I have tried uninstalling firefox and then they won't run. Reinstall and they do the same thing. I have run several registery exe fixes and the same thing. Anyone else run across this?

Also it will leave the exe running in task manager not using any resources. I have virus scanned the files with a few programs they they show nothing.

Delete all Firefox caches and profiles. Delete them from within Firefox before uninstalling Firefox. Run CCleaner and check all boxes under the Firefox section.
Reinstall Firefox specifying a different directory(folder). This should prevent Firefox from reading any old inf files. You may have to manually clean the registry.

    ALSO...

crystaldiskinfo5_6_2 is 1.76mb....The file that is trying to open in Firefox for you is. 5.09kb. That is a bookmark or a shortcut. Try the 1.76mb exe from a new folder..
All of the versions I found were listed with the en on the end......
    CrystalDiskInfo5_6_2-en.exe

I didn't notice the size on the open files, but the files size is correct in the folder. I will have to uninstall and clean it up again to see what I can get to work.

The crystal disk info is working some. In the files in the folder it has a folder named smart/intelssdXXXXXXXX. In that folder are .csv files that can be opened in excel. That is how that program stores what it did, it shows the date run and what was the results.

let me do a quick wipe and see what I can do.

Did you try running diskinfo.exe from in the crystaldisk folder? Or just the desktop shortcut?

The contents of diskinfo.ini from the crystaldiskinfo folder

    main.html should be here

    %ProgramFiles%\CrystalDiskInfo\CdiResource\dialog\Main.html

Apparently it is the empty template that the program uses to display the drive info.

Let me check that. I just uninstalled everything, registery clean, reboot, clean again. Updated from 3.5 to 4. something Ccleaner. It found a little more. Reinstalled firefox to a different folder, redownloaded crystal disk mark and crystal disk info and installed it to a different folder, same thing as before. I install anything else new and it's fine? so that is why it has me scratching my head on this one. let me check that file you posted.

From what I can figure.Crystaldisk uses the blank main.html file to fill in with data from the hdd. It then displays the main.html with your hdd data. Crystaldiskinfo is supposed to display the main.html on it's own. Somehow Firefox is intercepting the main.html and attempting to display it.

Next thing is to delete Firefox as the default program for opening html files.....Something is corrupt in the registry...

I had this as my ini file on my pc, I changed it to yours with nothing changed. Still opens the same. I may have to try a registery patch or just reload windows 7. I was going to try the modded video driver first though to see how much difference it was before I do though.

After swapping more defaults crystal disk is now opening with internet explorer, lol

Other than a restore point, reloading is probably the best choice at this point.

I already looked at restore points and everything left is after this happened. I loaded it last time I was home just to see how good it worked. So it's not like I got that much on it.

I have plenty of other pc's so this one hasn't been a rush job. I usually keep one by the bed so when the kids are over on the weekend and I get kicked off of my desktop so they can play games I can do some surfing on the web.

Lol me too! I much prefer my MacBook. Closely followed by me CF-19. This CF-T7 is my backup, to my backup. But if I am writing and need to use a PC, I go for the CF-T7 first.

Right now I have a back up for the back up. Got a CF-19 Mk3 for work overseas, CF-19 Mk2 for work on my cars, music in the shop, gps, etc, just Dirty work. CF-30 Mk2 for work travel in the USA or camping (got 3 media bay batteries for it, express card TV card, need a FM/AM radio for it, lol) CF-t7 for bedroom, CF-w8 is a spare if my oldest boy has a friend over.

The kids are all on CF-74 Mk3, I am going to try a SSD and modded video driver in a Mk4 to see how it performs compared to the Mk3 with SSD and Modded video driver. (the kids play games on them an could care less if hot key drivers work or not, lol) Oldest boy has two 52's right now Mk1 with HD2300 and Mk2 with 3450. The 3450 can play his games on high when he travels so he has kept it close. Haven't got all the kinks worked out of the Mk2 yet so I haven't took the Mk1 back yet.

If you snag one hold out for a Mk3 or Mk4 model. I got some updates to the guide coming up. Wireless upgrades on two different federal models.
