I just picked up a used VDL02 monitor that had been removed from police car service. It had a screen protector installed, which is now pretty beat up.
The screen protector does not have any exposed edges or corners and appears to actually run under the front bezel.
How do I disassemble the monitor in order to remove the screen protector?
I'm reluctant to just start removing screws at random.
I did many searches, can't locate a service manual, and the owner's manual doesn't cover disassembly.
Suggestions welcomed.
Thanks-

I would just start removing screws...

I have never seen a screen protector trapped behind the bezel of a toughbook What makes you say there is one installed?

He's talking about the overlay skin I think... not the screen protector.

The seller reports it as a screen protector...it has a slight rubbery feel to it and some "give" when touched. Definitly held tightly by the bezel all around.
Also, this is a monitor, not a notebook, and the first of its type I have seen.
The seller gave the impression that this was an add-on applied by the original police agency that deployed these. -
I'm well aware of what it is, I've handled dozens. The point is that I don't believe you have a "screen protector" captured by the bezel. The screen protector is intended to be user serviceable and I have never seen one that would require any disassembly to replace. Take it for what its worth, but there is the off chance that the seller does not know what he is talking about or that he is being less than candid.

I have come to that conclusion, too, although I think the seller is simply uninformed about the monitor condition....he has offered a refund, which I have decided to pursue. He had numerous VLD-02s, and thought the one he shipped me actually had an external screen protector applied.
I appreciate the help from everyone here. -
That VDL02 was returned to the seller, with full refund given.
Now, I'm considering looking for another VDL02 in much better condition.
The one I sent back had rather poor contrast, and limited color rendition...is that typical, or, just typical of surplussed police-car units that have been in service for thousands of hours?
I still need a high nit, inexpensive monitor... -
a fellow on fleabay traderjohn1 has a new one for sale 199.00 with cables and misc. parts. make him an offer, he has dealt before and items were as advertised. long time ago I think I got some for 50.00 each with a bit of wear and they worked ok................Driller

I just bought one from another seller on eBay for $140, delivered. Supposedly, new in box with all cables and power supply. It has not arrived yet.
Now, I'm looking for the matching keyboard, hopefully an unused one.
I downloaded the manual and the touch screen driver. I don't run any apps that support touch screen, but my understanding is that the same driver is needed to get the keyboard mouse pad working.
Now that I typed that, I'm wondering if an application has to specifically support a touch screen, or whether the TS just substitutes for the mouse... -
It just mimics the mouse/touchpad.
