I have a question. When powering on a CF-VDL02 I get a flash of orange light on the two leds then they go out. The Monitor does not seem to power on. Am I doing something wrong or is it telling me there is a problem? :(

When powering on you will see two lights
The light near the emergency button will be green , and the light near the power switch will be red at first and then change to green
If you don't have a video connected you should see the words
cable not connected on the screen

I am getting two orange lights and that is it as soon as you let off the power button they go out. When I first started out I did not even get the orange lights. After a little work to the power jack it was able to get the orange lights. I noticed the dip switches inside the LCD any idea what these are for. I am thinking this thing is DOA and it will have to go back for exchange.
    Tomcat Thanks for your help.

Check with the seller, and ask him to pack carefully next time

My last and only -02 display is indistinguishable from brand new
But I did pay quite a bit more than you did for yours lol

What are you using for a power source? Maybe not getting enough juice?

I had thought about that too. It says:

    Mobile Power adapter
Ault Inc. Made in the USA
    TR7516
    input 13.5V 7.0A
    output 16.2V 4.63A

I have tested it and was getting a over 16V output.

Alright I had some success. When I plugged in my AC adapter for my CF29 I get the CF-VDL02 to come on. I guess it is either a bad adaptor or my power source. Thanks for all your help all!!!!!!!

I am having the same exact problem. Push power button, then get a quick orange flash on both LEDs, then nothing. If I do this maybe 100 times, the monitor will finally power-up and tell me no signal...

I'm using a lab type adjustable power supply with output set at 16v.

My next move will be to give it a VGA input, to see if maybe it needs to see video before it powers up.

Odd that I'm experiencing your exact symptom, however.

Edit to add: just tried starting the monitor with a VGA signal input from my netbook. Same deal: probably 50 pushes on the start button before the monitor actually would come on. Once that happened, the monitor was fine, and I did half an hour of web browsing, both with and without the netbook screen enabled. The Panasonic worked great, but the ammeter on the little lab power supply was nearly pegged once I turned the VDL02 up to max brightness (about 2.5 amps @ 16vdc, which is 40 watts, actually lower than the Panasonic spec. of 50 watts).

Then, I wanted to sequence things again, so I hit the on/off button of the VDL02 and it refused to power-down. Made numerous attempts, still no shut-down. Then turned off the netbook, and the VDL02 turned off with the first push of the button. The shut-down routine may actually be a feature, forcing the user to shut off the computer before the monitor will shut off...don't know, but that situation is not a worry.

Then, I restarted everything again, making sure that the monitor was getting VGA signal before I started it, and again, it didn't turn on until at least 40 pushes of the button, each time just flashing the two LEDs in orange mode...

This is unacceptable, and leaves me feeling very frustrated.

Try another power supply. These VDL02 displays take a goodly amount of current, well over what many lab power supplies can provide.
