How do you enable/disable the touchpad on a CF-VKBL03 Keyboard? I have not been able to use the keyboard touchpad since I hooked this system up with a CF-VDL02 monitor. The cfvdl02_xp2k_d020949 driver provided touch screen capability on the CF-VDL02 with the Fujitsu Stylistic 5020D Tablet PC (pen touch screen).

Does the CF-VKBL03 require a special driver for the touch pad, when a non-toughbook computer is used? I have tried (2) CF-VKBL03 keyboards with the same result. I have also tried various combinations of hot keys like FN + F1 thru F12. It would help if I had a CF-VKBL03 manual/schematic, if anyone out there has one, they could email at my profile email, I would appreciate it.

The touchpad will just work when connected to the PS2 port of the laptop you may need a PS2 splitter if the laptop has two independent ports for keyboard/mouse. If the laptop has a single ps2 port then it is just a matter of plugging in the single connector. I am assuming you are using the original cable from panasonic between the keyboard and laptop?

I have the CF-VKBL03 Keyboard connected to the Fujitsu 5020D Tablet with the Panasonic standard cable via a dual PS2 to USB adapter. The mouse works OK with this arrangement but the touchpad doesn't work with/without the mouse connected. The rest of the keyboard and the touch screen functions OK.

I have also tried this setup with a IBM 6221 in place of the 5020D and direct connections, since it had dual PS2 ports. The touch pad didn't work with this either.

NOTE: When I tried to install the panasonic driver using the exe file, a pop-up window indicated this system was not supported in both cases. However, when I went into the file and selected the "install" file it took it and the touch screen started working. Is the touch pad driver included in the touch screen driver file?

Additional comments to NOTES above; I just went back and checked the driver and it states it is a touch screen driver, There is no mention of a touch pad driver. It looks to me like I need a touch pad driver but I have not found one for the CF-VKBL03.

Normally by plugging in the PS2 cable the touchpad gets detected as a standard PS2 mouse and will function without any drivers. There is no relation to the touchscreen as it is a serial port device. I have never tried using the USB adapter like you are doing. You may want to find an old computer with a legacy PS2 port just to verify that it works. The touchpad and keyboard signals travel over the one cable and you will need the splitter if your computer has independent PS2 ports for keyboard and mouse. Most laptops like the toughbooks had a single PS2 port and the splitter was not needed.

The VKB mouse will only work through the PS/2 Port. The keyboard will work through a usb adapter but will cut out the tp.

I have the IBM 6221 which has the (2) PS2 ports for mouse and keyboard. This is being typed on the CF-VKBL03 Keyboard using the keyboard PS2 port designated. If I switched this keyboard to the mouse PS2 port would that enable this touchpad for test purposes? The keyboard wouldn't work in this event probably?

It should, it was designed to work on Toughbooks through a ps2 port. and everyone i have tested, using a single ps2 cable, both touch pad and keyboard work fine.

With the single cable you will get either the mouse or the keyboard to work depending on which port you plug into. Do you not have the PS2 splitter?

not true, Both the Touchpad and the keyboard will work through a single ps2 cable.

I was referring to him plugging in the single cable to his thinkpad which has independent ports for Keyboard and mouse. In this case he would need the splitter to get both to work.

I have the USB to dual PS2 for mouse and keyboard only. It looks like I need another kind of splitter to separate the keyboard PS2 into a mouse(touch pad) and keyboard PS2 and then go from there? Where do they sell such a splitter? What do they call it? It seems like there ought to be a way to go to a USB plug directly but I don't know of one.

    ahh didnt catch that part.

These were not designed with usb in mind so i would stop right there with trying to use it.

I believe they sell a single ps2 to dual ps2 adapters but have not seen any for awhile. you might check around online or even radioshack, they should be able to atleast point you in the right direction

Well, my 5020D does not have a PS2 port. So why couldn't I just get another splitter like you mentioned and chain them respectively to the PS2 to USB adapter?

Sometimes you just have to try things to know if they will work or not. But first you do need to acquire the splitter or get a laptop with a single PS2 port for both the mouse and the keyboard. The splitter you need is called a PS2 splitter or Y adapter that connects the single end to your VKB cable and the other two to the computers PS2 ports. keep in mind the genders required to make the connections. You would need female on the single end and male on the two ends. Most splitters you will find have the opposite gender. Radio shack sells the bare connectors so if all else fails you can make your cable.
