my panasonic toughbook CF W2 makes a kind of beep sound when minimising or maximising windows.
    Even when volume is muted.

It is not like a PC Speaker beep (how would you guys suggest one generates that?) but it isn`t it anyway.
(I know, because on trying to generate a beep , I downloading QBASIC and used the BEEP statement, that produced nothing. I put it in a DO LOOP - nothing. Then I trying to break out of it, I could not do, Tried to close the command prompt.. and End Now. Then I got a PC speaker Beep!!! But it was not the same quiet beep sound made from minimising or maximising a window.)

The CF-50 I was trying out did the same thing. I'd have thrown it against a wall if I used it daily...

I had a lucky day a few days ago, no beeps. Luckily a restore point had been made that day. I did a system restore to that day for different reasons, and lo and behold, no beeps.
Mostly in problem situations, after fixing a problem, if I am not sure of the cause, I would try recreating the problem (or when fixing it, i might try a method that finds the cause). But in this case, for fear of not being able to get rid of the beeps, I will not try.

It is certainly not a noiseless laptop, there is a constant noise that may be the hard drive(not the clicks . a constant noise). It is not too annoying though.. It doesn`t make me sick.
(I guess HDD noise will be a thing of the past once solid state drives become cheaper and more prevalent).
