I'm trying to upgrade the memory in my in-laws CF-W4 Toughbook. Does anyone know where I can purchase the following part? CF-BAV1024U

Also is it possible to replace the "Main Memory" Dimm?

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum. This would be the best place to start CF-BAV1024U | eBay . If your main memory is on the motherboard then no you can not replace it.

    Thanks for the reply.

I guess my next question would be if the memory has to be installed in parity? There's only 512 in the laptop at the moment. If I were to purchase a 1GB dimm to add on would the system recognize 1.5 GB?

Yes it should but you should check your manual to see what the max you can put in. I don't have one at the moment or I would of checked for you.

The official Panasonic web site says it's limited to 1024 mb, BUT it has a intel 915 chipset so upgrading to 1.5gb shouldn't be a problem. I haven't messed with a W4 model yet, but have had a W2 and have 2 W5 models right now. 1.5gb of memory is suppose to be the max for the W5 but I have seen units on ebay with 2gb in the bios.
