I have just done a clean install of windows and downloaded all the latest drivers from here: Official Support Download Center of the Drivers, Manuals and FAQs | TOUGHBOOK | Panasonic

I had to use CF-Y5L (Mk2) as the model as that was the only appropriate one.

Everything works other than the wi fi. In network connections I only have LAN showing up and it is the same in device manager under "network adapters".

I have tried uninstaling and reinstalling and updating the driver and also tried to run the dpinst32 file that is downloaded in the driver package to no avail.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thanks :)

(I gather you do not have the original OS dvd that came with the unit.)

What model W5 do you have?
What OS are you trying to build?

    Oops, I see you have a Y5, not a W5. Sorry.

I have gone through th estuff that came with the computer and although there is a windows instruction booklet there was no disk with it. There is also a recovery DVD but no indication of how I would use it!!

Sounds like the WIFI card is either not installed or disabled in the BIOS have you checked in the BIOS? Has WIFI ever worked on this unit?

The recovery DVD is pretty easy to use. Just follow the instructions. I'd try that before opening it up to have at the wireless cards.

Hi, I can't find any instructions, it is just a DVD with a bunch of files.

There is no readme or anything else useful and no autorun or setup.exe file that I can see.

Any help on how to use the DVD would be great!

Is it marked with the Microsoft logo, or does it have the Panasonic label? That is, does it look like an original recovery DVD or like a DVD that an individual wrote?

it is a panasonic thing that mentions microsoft but doesn't have a windows logo.

Is it basically a windows disk with the panasoni software on it? It is odd that when you open the disk in windows there no obvious instruction on how to use it :(

No, if it is the Panasonic DVD, you have to boot from that media, and follow the instructions. It'll wipe out everything on the HDD - but that does not sound like an issue for you.
