Impossible. It's permanent in the eeprom. The only way to change the model number would be to get a mother board of another CF18 model and install it in the case. Problem then would be the hardware and finding the way to install everything. This would be a custom install on your part because the software is particular to each model. Hope this helps somewhat. PS.... Don't mention passwords or they will kill your post.....

I know this has been done before in the past on some CF-28's. If your Toughbook has the regular black sticker with the model number and serial it is 100% factory. Now if it has a white sticker on it with the model number it has been upgraded since it left the factory. The service depots put the white sticker on it and update the model number when they upgrade then.(or at least use to be this way when Panasonic upgraded them) (This is from memory on the difference on the white stickers vs black stickers, may not be 100% accurate)

    Yes....the information is accurate. :)

The model number can be changed in the Bios on most marks & models....I've had my wrists slapped for discussing issues related to Bios Modifications....so I'm NOT posting in this thread.

Ooops, did forget to say that you may be able to do a BIOS flash to another model number, but, you had better make sure you get the right CF # to flash it which is legal to do, but I have not found too much BIOS info on Pani's website. Then you're faced with the dilemma that the BIOS is correct for the hardware on you're machine. Which, if not, will pretty much make it a nice paperweight if you can't flash it back.
