I have now ordered this KB from 3 different places on line and each one has eventually cancelled my order. What is the deal with this keyboard. Do I have to apply for a permit to get one or something? Its easier to buy a gun!!!

Where is a good place to get one at a reasonable price?

There is a mandatory 14 day waiting period to purchase such harsh items for the CF-19. :D

~Rob - likes his fiances CF-19 Emmisive keyboard and protects it with his many guns...~

Not your typical retailer name or website, but I have successfully ordered from Universal Mania. They have a CF-WKB193VM listed.

Sorry for offtop. I can't understand why this keyboard is so expensive. CF-29's emissive is ~USD 50. I will wait for this price :)

It's a nice add-on ,if you can afford it
They are around $275 , the same as the cf-29/30 ,for new
The reason you don't see used models on the market is that they keyboard has only been available for less than a year
There is no used on the market
I paid $100 for my cf-19 rubber keyboard,
I was not willing to spend the extra $ as the keys are a bit small for my tastes and for typing I use the full size on my cf-30

I've paid $50 for my CF-19 rubber keyboard and have a new plastic keyboard as a spare. More than 200 bucks for keyboard sounds hmmmm crazy for me :)

Rubber keyboards are DIRT cheap because NO ONE wants them...... The emmisive ones are in HIGH demand and LOW production...

    It's a nice keyboard :)

I pay $40 for the new basic stock type cf-29 type, the tablets are not common so your spare cf-19 if in good shape is worth over $50
If you have a $400 laptop ,yes $200 might be a crazy price
Backlit keyboards are a nice feature though and Panasonic is not known for walmart pricing
I have noticed over the years here that quite a few members have expensive newer Toughbooks
Any of the cf-19/74/30/31 are $2000+ if purchased new
Personaly the highest I have paid was $3000 for a new CF-30, c/w that nice expensive backlit keyboard as an option

I still have my original emmisive from when I had my CF-29 waaaaaay back in high school (which was April of 2005) - I've carried it through my CF-30 and now it's on my brand new CF-31... It's pretty worn out but I love it and it just keeps ticking! It just goes to show...

So I found one on Techforless.com

Figured what the hell. Got it today. The flat cable for the power has the end torn off otherwise it looks brand new.

I JUST CAN'T WIN!!!! I don't think they have one to replace it either.

Teo might be able to fix this...

I know the feeling though... I just bought one of those S107 mini RC helicopters YESTERDAY and today I crashed it on accident and it ripped the little wire out of one of three motors... Ordered a new motor for $9 and waiting for it to come in :(

Looks like a sealed unit and the flat cable or whatever it is called is torn off, I'd guess 1/4" or so is missing.

Post a pic. Sometimes there is enough cable to trim the end.

Hey, ordered one from big online place, something mall. Stated they had them "in stock" same day delivery, then received "back-ordered", then a phone call stating they would be in, then an e-mail stating "discontinued". I then ordered one from rugged something (you know who they are) in Texas. I have dealt with them before and should have gone right to them for the KB..... Lesson learned! That's who I will deal with from now on. Placed my order and in less than an hour, FedEx tracking number! That's fast. Very reputable also, a little bit more than the other place, but FREE SHIPPING!!!! They had 8 in stock when I last looked, ohh, 7 now cause I bought mine. :)

Got mine from Staples, it was made by Brookstone but looks the same. It stopped working but it was cool, JUST ordered the metal version from amazon should last a bit longer, and it looks cooler.

I am willing to buy a 10 pack and sell the remaining 9 to members here. Would there be any takers at about $225-235 per unit?

Hi all, i just ordered my cf19 mk1 and i am waiting for it to be shipped. I ordered it with "backlight" keyboard but reading this thread i have not understood if there are different backlight keyboard models. (my english is poor)
Can you explain me ? Are there two or more original panasonic keyboards models for a cf19 ? (emissie/rubber/standard/...??)

    Thank you!

    Thank you

There are 3 types, normal, rubber backlit and then emissive (basically a normal keyboard that is backlit).

Did you get it on ebay?? my guess you are getting a rubber backlit keyboard, unless you paid $300.00 extra for the keyboard then its a emissive backlit keyboard.

BTW the rubber keyboard is very hard to type on...I know....I have one :(

Jason has the best price on the net for the emissive backlit keyboard found here http://forum.notebookreview.com/tou.../581573-fs-cf-wkb193vm-18-18-emissive-kb.html

i ordered an mk1 with many options (gps bt wifi wwan backlite 500gb 4gb touch + digitizer) for a fixed price with 6 month insurance so the keyboard is included in the price.

I don't know which backlight keyboard model i will receive but i think the cheapest one. (rubber)

I saw jason keyboard, if i will found the keyboard is to hard to use it i will call him for an emissive not rubber kb.

    Thank you all for information.

    Bye bye

    Can't agree with you :)
I type very fast on rubber keyboard. Tried to change it for plastic one and came back to the rubber, because there is no such difference in speed, but very big difference in the night :)))

One benefit I see between the emissive keyboard and the standard keyboard for the 18/19 (besides being backlit) is that the emissive keyboard has spacing between the keys so I find myself much less often hitting two keys instead of the one I meant to hit.
