    Hi again,

Having trouble getting the HSPDA modem to work. Followed all instructions regarding switching off wireless switch, disabling WAN in BIOS, install SW, re-enable BIOS and switch on wireless switch. Start the Mobilink app and I just get the "no service-SIM not found-check orientation" message.

SIM is inserted as the booklet, have tried 2 different carriers (both U-SIMS).

Enabled in BIOS, wireless switch is on, tray icon is set to WAN on also.

    Any thoughts?

    Steve

I have re-installed it and still not working other than with a GSM SIM from one of our networks called Orange.

I doubt very much if the HSPDA modem could be locked to a particular carrier.........or could it? No mention in the documentation.

    Any one?

    Steve

OK, although no one has managed to assist I have got it sorted.

For your information there is an updated Firmware to be installed on the inbuilt HSPDA modem that I got from Support once I called them.

This and adding the APN in the profile sorted it.

I think that the modems CAN be locked to a particular network. Some require SIM chips....

GSM modems have SIM (subscriber information module) cards. CDMA do not. Both can be (and AFAIK as told to me from Panasonic, they are) locked to a specific carrier.

If you have one that ISN'T, I'd certainly like to know about it!

As above, I have fixed my problem with a firmware update.

My modem is UNLOCKED (takes 2 UK carrier SIM's). Probably a difference between UK and USA.

Sorry, cant really help you but when I called Panasonic support they were very very good, sent me the new FW for the modem and sorted my probs.

So, I suggest that you call the relevant dept in your country and ask them.
