Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum
Same thing happened to me when I was using one of them cheap china external cd-roms . Never had a problem since I used the CF-VDRRT3 like this one Panasonic Combo DVD ROM CDRW CF VDRRT3 for Toughbook CF 18 CF 19 | eBay (can be found cheaper) . The cd-rom you are using, is it 1 line or does it use 2 line (2 USB's) . Also check the XP cd you are using, is it clean? The easy way is to pickup the recovery disk. -
Where can I get the recovery disk? -

What we need is the full model number of your 19 . The problem might be your USB thumb drive...not setup right. Sorry but never did a install using one before

Model : CF-19CVG55TL
Many thanks -
This is the link to Heartland, try calling them and see if the Panasonic Restore Disk is available:
Heartland Services
Until then, if you'd like to see your CF-19 up and running fast, try downloading this little gem of a program here:
UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads
Then go the Linux Mint Website and download Mint13lts, such as this one:
Linux Mint 13 "Maya" - Xfce (32-bit) - Linux Mint
You'll then be set to run the Unetbootin program (above), and make a bootable usb install iso of the Linux Mint operating system.
Then, pop the thumb drive into your CF-19, turn on the little gem, and while she's booting up, press the F2 key when you see the blue Panasonic Screen.
This takes you into bios, tab/scroll over to boot order and make sure your thumb drive is first on the list. Hit F10 to save and exit/restart.
You should then boot up off of the usb drive. you can try the Linux operating system "live" from the usb drive, and/or you can install it quickly.
Enjoy your new CF-19, with whatever operating system you choose.
Best regards,
Cleve -

Let us know how you make out and also just to let you know you only need one more post to send and receive PM's

Try making the HDD bootable with DOS or Ubuntu. Copy the XP install folder / files to the HDD and run it from there...

Thank you all!!!
The problem was the OS that I was installing, some error with it.
Did a clean install and it´s all OK... Thank you guys
Can´t find Bluetooth Drivers and WAN Drivers. Does anyone had this problem?
The wan module as this reference : NBZNRM-EU740 I think it´s a 3G.
The bluetooth I can find it, I think I must open the computer.
PS: I know that it as Bluetooth because in the previous OS there were bluetoth icons, and I buy it especially because it as bluetooth ( no doubt) -

My guess you have not updated XP to SP2 or SP3. The Bluetooth should work after you do the updates. Is there is a question mark in the device manager showing UGX ?

Bluetooth DONE!!!
It was the USB device.
found another thread regarding bluetooth issues and instaled Toshiba drivers abd Boooooom, done it!!!
Just missing de WAN... Anyone had any problems with that?? -
I have a CF-19 Mk.1 with a Novatel module, not sure it's exactly the same model as yours but this should help...
Mine needed Mobilink Network Connection Manager version 2.02.37.25 - build 006 - driver version 3.0.3.0.
Tried a few different versions, this is the only one that worked on mine. I'm UK based, using W7 ultimate.
Device Manager shows mine in "Modems" not "Other Devices" as Novatel Wireless Expedite HSDPA Modem
Googling "novatel v2.03.11.001.msi" will find the zipped driver installer that worked on my device. There were other drivers out there that didn't work and I'd tried most of them.
Pure luck that I got it working eventually - I'd been about to buy another modem thinking it was broken.
Hope these work for you too. I remember how surprised and happy I was when it connected to the network after weeks of trying with no luck. -
I forgot a couple of things...
The 19 Mk.1 has two BIOS versions available - the Vista Upgrade version and the original XP version. If the previous owner had upgraded the BIOS to Vista you might consider downgrading to suit your XP installation.
Other thing is the "55" in your model number. Usually two digits signify a special Panasonic build for a corporate or government contract. Wireless connectivity is sometimes restricted on these - the pin 20 mod can get around the restriction if nothing else works for the WWAN module.toughasnails likes this. -
Thank You so much unclemack!!!
I have all drivers installed, installed Novatel drivers as you told me so and baaaam, everything cleared in system devices, no unknow devices.
Trying to connect to the internet. Setting up a connection but problems starts in the beginning, "Error 628: The connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed."
I think it´s something regarding de *99# that I put in the dial up.... Does anyone does anything??
Just an image of the module an switch:
Many thanks!! -
I haven't seen that error myself but a Google search showed results and there was some advice on forums. Mobilink has online help I think.
I'd guess check that WiFi is switched off, check VPN and security settings, check sim card connectors
Maybe you could phone your service provider for help - they should be able to get you going.
Edit: All day at work I've been wondering if I wrote VPN instead of APN... I meant APN of course.
Good luck with it!
