Guys I need your help, I have for the last week been trying to install Xp on my Toughbook, I used to have it installed on this pc but now have a fully working pc with Win7 on it. Its a digitil screen on it not the touch one.

My problem is I need Winxp on it to test out a diagnostic box that runs on Xp. My problem is I can load WinXp Pro with service pack 3 on it ok but when I try to install the driver Hotkey in the order listed on the forum my pc crashes with blue screen.
I have been reading a lot of posts on here and see that my model came either with vista business or Xp pro S2.
My copy of Xp that I am installing has service pack 3 slipstreamed could this be the problem and throwing out the hotkey driver.
I have searched here in the UK for a restore disc but they are not availble here so no go there.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated .

    Hi Shawn

Thanks very much for your help, the Bios version in my cf19 is V200L15. This toughbook came with Vista installed, I then took that off and put Win 7 on it and that worked fine.
But like I said I need to put Xp back on it if I can.
I have tried today to install Xp Pro Sp2 on it and as soon as it says starting windows, after installing the startup files to carry on installing it blue screens and wont load this version on to pc. I then tried a copy of Tablet XP, this goes so far then I get the no HD found,so thats a no go.
If I put my Xp Pro SP 3 disc back in that will load ok, but it then crashes when I try to the hotkey driver.

Is it the Bios thats stopping me loading XP SP2 ?.

The Bios is different on a Mk1 but it should not matter on a Mk2 like yours.
With a digitizer you should be ok...

Dumb question,,,Are you using the XP drivers?
Dumb question number 2..Do you really NEED the hotkeys?
If not then run XP sp3 without the hotkeys..

Dumb question,,,Are you using the XP drivers?
Yes I tried other drivers and they tell me not for this machine so wont even extract

Dumb question number 2..Do you really NEED the hotkeys?
No not really but was wanting to set it up fully then image the drive to sell it on after I have finished with it to my brother.

If not then run XP sp3 without the hotkeys..
    Might have to yet.

But I can't understand why XP pro Sp2 errors when trying to load Windows.

Or you can go straight to trying this

A power pull re-set is indicated.
    To eliminate scrambled mother-board:
    Pull all power.
Hold switch on for a few 15-30 second cycles.
Plug in power supply. (no battery yet)
Set bios to defaults and save [F2][F9][F10]
    Re-start and install battery.

    Hi Shawn

Well I have tried all your suggestions to get this to work, so in the end I just took your advice and installed everything on the list, but not in the order they are listed for the Cf19 drivers, thinking that at least I can try Xp with my car box. Well would you believe it doing it this way the hotkey driver has installed and with no errors. I did notice that in the Device manager there are more unkown devices than are listed in the driver installation procedure posted on a thread?.
None of the buttons work on the front front panel but hey ho thats life. I have installed the mouse drivers but the touch pen/screen is not working, is there a special driver for the digitizer screen?.

    Hi Shawn

Still playing with this I now have everything working that I need except the the Pen for the screen its not a touch screen as you know, but I have installed the mouse driver like it lists in the how to, but I cant get the touch screen working, is there another/different driver for this digitizer model for XP.. I have looked in the sites you posted for a driver but I can't find one.

I am guessing you used a xp install disk?
Best bet is to download the sp2 (service pack 2) for XP and install it as an update.

Standard XP does not support a digitizer. The XP tablet edition did.
However beginning with service pack 2, ALL of the features of XP tablet were included and tablets are supported..
