Hello, i was looking for a usb connection inside the cf19 (mk1) so i found that the mini pci connector (marked CN601) on the audio board have two pins (36 - 38) that are marked as USB data+ and USB Data- so i tried to connect a usb peripheral (wireless mouse) of courese i connected also GND and +5v.

The unit don't work, but i seen that there's 4 dip switch to set, so how i have to set them to make the mini pci to be operative ?

It sounds like you are trying to tap into the WWAN slot. If true, you will need to check the BIOS to see if the WWAN is enabled. Without the slot being enabled in the BIOS, it will not supply any signal. If there is no WWAN setting in the BIOS, then you will probably need to install a card befor you can enable the slot.

You can try flipping the dip switches to on, but without the BIOS setting being enabled, I doubt that will make a difference.

Hello, nope, so i tried to do something new, i interrupted the signal pats of the CN600 pin 6 (RF_USB+) and 7(RF_USB-) and soldered a couple of wire, so this don't require any abilitation, simply connect a usb device and it work, my wireless mouse worked at the first try, you will also need a GND that you can easily locate on the board and a +5V that is present only when the computer is turned on (otherwise it will drain your battery down).

The mods is accomplished only on the HSDPA board so you haven't to solder on the main board, so less problem if you do mistakes.
WARNING This will make the mini PCI slot unserviceable in part or at all, i have not the possibility to test it, the bluetooth is still working well.

    So Good Modding ! ! !

OK i found the power source on the HSDPA board, you need IC604 look at it, is a power regulator with charge pump, overcurrent sension and enable/disable function, all you need to do is to place a drop of solder between pin 3 and 4 to short the together. Then you can take the power on the pin 6, it is regulated at 5.0v current controlled and enabled with running pc only, you can draw 1A max out of this port, but i will reccommend to not excess the 0.5A, the other half part of this IC regulates the power to the back USB connector, so if you short the rear USB both will be disabled, i think until a reboot is done.

Hi guys, finally i installed my wireless mouse receiver in my cf19, it has been a challenge, but in the end i managed to put all inside, just under the the wwan cover, i had to remove (desolder) the wwan card connector, the screw holder and the dip switches from the board, to allow enough room to put the gps and the receiver, I have not lost anything that I wanted to keep, i have my pcmcia for wwan uses and i can buy a new audio board if i need to restore it.

Then routed the antenna wire trough the computer, just around the neck of the screen and up to the left side antenna cover, i put a spiral inductance under that cover, now the mouse have a nice coverage, about 50cm around the cmputer, (this is not bluetooth, but wireless 27Mhz) originally it was shorter, just the space needed to use it, so i can now use the mouse without the need to keep a usb port in use, when you have to move files from a memory to another is very useful.

Last but not least, the mouse is very cool, with the same color of the toughbook and a very cool design, so if you need to do somethin similar now you now how to do.

Of course i have to put it on the site. not a very stilish mod, just a flat board with the two module patched down with biadesive tape, the gps has soldered by 3 wires to the 12 pin connector, and the other board, the wireless receiver, has a 4 wires to the usb data and power lines.
