I just purchased a Toughbook CF19 (CF-19FHL59AM) that was preloaded with Windows 7 x64. I am noticing that hkeyapp.exe*32 is using 50-75% of the processor all the time. Is this a common issue? I have read someone else on this forum has a similar problem and loaded the drivers from the Panasonic website, however I can only find windows vista drivers for this machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure why the seller put W7 64bit on it, myself I would of put W7 32bit on it. With 64bit you need lots of memory, really more than 4GB I am told. You are not going to find any W7 64bit drivers for the MK2 on the Panasonic website. Maybe you could try the MK3 and up...maybe even Vista. -
I agree W7 32bit would be much better.
Following is not directed at anyone in particular....
I still don't understand why everyone has to have 64 bit OS. 80% of the people don't have enough memory to run it properly. Of the 20% that have enough memory, 90% of them don't run any programs that will use 64 bit anyway. It's a giant waste . All it does is perform poorly. The PC at work has W7 64 bit on it with 2 or 4gb of memory. Can't recall at the moment. It is a frustrating slow pig. (No offense Azrial) If a computer doesn't have an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM of 8gb, a 64bit OS will make things WORSE.toughasnails likes this. -
I can't find any Vista x64 drivers though. I'm really not sure why hkeyapp is using so much cpu.

There isn't any 64 bit drivers for it. Panasonic knew better than to install a 64 bit OS.
Install a 32 bit OS. Take your pick..Win7, Vista, Win XP....What COA is on the bottom of your CF19?
Processor Manufacturer
Intel
Core 2 Duo U7500 1.06 GHz
Standard Memory 2 GB
Maximum Memory 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive Capacity 80 GB
Operating System Windows Vista Business Downgrade to Windows XP Professional
From Microsoft
In actual everyday use, most people probably wouldnt notice a difference between a computer using 3 GB of memory and one using 6 GB. So who might notice the difference? Well, if youve ever known anyone who keeps a couple dozen e-mail messages, a dozen programs, and a half dozen other items all open at the same timewhile playing videosthen you get the idea.
But for most people who just keep a few programs running at a time, 4 GB or more of memory offers no tangible benefit over a computer with 2 GB of memory and a 32-bit version of Windows. -
I disabled hkeyapp.exe. Will this affect the machine in any way? What does hkeyapp.exe do anyway? Everything else on the machine appears to work correctly.

thnx, interesting site.
what I don't get about the CPU utilization, (which seems to be very low), is what that 300% stands for... -
