cool picture! luckily this one seems to have a rubber keyboard, as there is "some" dirt between the key's.
This is a good example of the intended use for CF-19's!
But eehm, I'm happy this isn't mine CF-19 being abusedI like to keep mine as clean and good looking as possible. I hope it will last for about 4-5 years.
-
It's CF-18 pictured.
-
*Blows up something important*
"But, sir! Its a CF-18. I had epic lag!" -
How on earth can you tell it's an 18? from the centrino sticker?
-
Maybe imagining it but my 19's screen casing looks about 1-2mm. thinner.
And the centrino sticker is different.
I can't see anything else. -
Sticker is enough
But if you need more details - you can see USB cable connected to secondary USB port. CF-19 doesn't have that port (that's not convenient and I remember it well) -
Hate to bust your bubble but there is NOTHING hooked up to any USB port here. I see the power cord, coiled lanyard for the sytlus and the remaining thing is an ethernet cable hooked up to the LAN port. This is part of a system called OSRVT or One System Remote Video Terminal. This system allows us to pick up video feeds from quite a few drones and other airborne sources such as gunships, Apaches, F-15s, F-16s and A-10s. The soldier on the right is controlling the RAVEN drone while the one on the left is monitoring the video feed from the RAVEN. The ethernet cable is attached to another unit out of picture call a ROVER or eROVER. This is basically a modem. Also out of picture are one or two antennas each about the size of coffee cans, a GPS antenna and various cables. I deal with this system on a regular basis having one system on each of my helicopters. All toughbooks in this program are CF-19s.
-
Ok, it was my mistake about USB
But it's still CF-18
Maybe someone can resize this original picture? It takes 2 screens on my CF-19 -

Model number not withstanding, its good to see the kids have tools that make it safer for them to kill the bad guys.

Please don't try to stir up political agendas in here (or anywhere else on this forum). Posts have been removed, if you are going to thread crap, take it elsewhere. Thank you. Since Tomcat and Toughbook (the usual Panasonic moderators) are currently away, if anything else comes up, please use the (
) report post button. Thanks, and have a nice day.

Yeah, I occasionally get called out by mods from other sections of NBR, too. They don't get it; it's ok, after all we are at NBR....so you can't get too pissed.
We're all family here in the panny subforum. -
ha! those raven were worthless! they were pretty loud so the muj can hear them (and stop what they were doing) and they alwaus fell out of the sky. cant tell you how many times i got tasked with a quick mission to go retrieve one of these things...

Thanks for the picture Terminus. This is a real example of why?would I need to use a rubber keyboard? Classic man.
Thanks.

It's also easy to remove this dust from standard plastic keyboard - it's waterproof too. And it's muuuuuch easier to type on it
Rubber keyboard is better at night and if you often spill oil on it -

If you hung around the Toughbook Forum for a while, you would note that we pretty well take care of such "crap" on our own; flaming such posters so badly for their "crap" that they leave the Forum with their tails between their legs -- usually never to be heard from again..
FLAME ON!

What was the composition of the thinner? That might be usefule to repair small tears????
Which it doesn't really matter anyway. I have started an autopsy on my old rubber KB, and it's not just sealed by the rubber portion. The electronics/pads are also sealed themselves.
I've typed on it with no rubber. I hope I didn't get a disease -

That TB is not being abused. That unit will probably make its way back. Sent to DRMO and someone in a future post will be using it!

Yeah I think its a CF-18 too, the mouse pad has slightly sharper corners on the 19, and those centrino and windows stickers have 18 written all over them. The real difference is the back of the LCD lid, or the speaker placement, but we can't see either. If only it was tilted another 5 deg in either direction!

Bob Johnson's Toughbook Stuff: Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 Used To Fly Drones in Miami!
Write up and video of a drone in action. Just helicopter type. Looks like a CF-19 digitizer.
