CF19 mk4 BIOS changes not saving.

I haven't come across this before .

CF19 mk4 with standard BIOS V4. 123411. No BIOS or supervisor password. I can enter the BIOS screens and make changes but when pressing F10 to save and reboot; or the "save current values" option below. the unit just freezes and I have to power off to continue. (The "Reboot without saving changes" option works normally).

I have also tried changing settings from within Windows using the WMI tool but again after making changes just returns an error message.

I've tried a power pull reset and removing the CMOS battery for a few minutes with no change.

As it is already on the latest BIOS version it won't allow a BIOS update either.

Any advice please?

 

Just because it is cheap.
Try a new CMOS battery.

 

Tried a new CMOS battery. No change unfortunately.

Weirdly though, it did change the recorded hours from 4500 as per the picture above to 4470. Not sure what happened there!

Your CF-19 is a time machine! It went back in time 30 hours. If only you had known this would happen. You could have made a fortune in the stock market!!

 

If I can get my head together enough, I might have a full bios flash for a mk4. Not sure where I saved it.


When you pulled the batteries, did you hold down the power switch for a minute or so with no batteries(including cmos)

 

Your BIOS image is damaged or incorrectly flashed. More exactly your NVRAM part is damaged. The decrease in the number of hours is most probably because main NVRAM is so damaged that it used the backup NVRAM to boot and probably the backup NVRAM had a different value stored for the powered on hours.

Is this a unit you just recently bought or you own it for a long time? If it's recently bought probably the seller flashed some BIOS image to unlock it or remove some custom BIOS but didn't flash it correctly.
