I have a CF-27 with a rubberized backlit keyboard that I'd like to swap into my CF-29 (standard keyboard, no backlight). The CF-27 keyboard only has two cables... will it work in my CF-29?

    Yes it will

That was how I added rubber backlite keyboards to cf-28's and cf-29's to start ,as the cf-27 two conducter type was the most common used rubber keyboard early on

Perfect! Thanks! I'm assuming I'll need new drivers, or will the hoytkey drivers I have already recognize the backlight functionality?
