    Hi,

I have the following problem with my CF27.

For a long time the battery lastet up to 2h when suddenly it would randomly turn the power off when on battery (no shutdown, just off). LED is changing from yellow to red blinking an back.
No problems/poweroffs when connected to AC.

Another strange thing: acpitools (Debian Jessi) is telling me that AC is online even when disconnected.

The battery is ok since sometimes I can work for 90min without problems, same behavior with different battery, so probably a hardware problem.

Any ideas which part is probably broken would be appreciated (sorry if already answered, i couldn't find the thread)

    Regards

Blinking red means that the battery is going bad, but check the connections on the battery and the power module to ensure there is no dirt or corrosion. Considering the age of the CF-27 that is not surprising that the battery may be going bad, mine is dead but it is just not worth it to me to find a replacement or re-cell the battery. There could also be problems with the power module that is causing your random shutdowns. You might try e~~bay for a cheap parts computer.

This definitely sounds like hardware. The most likely in my thinking would be the charging circuit. Based on the fact that two batteries exhibit the same behavior and the AC is showing online when it is really unplugged lead me to believe that it is trying to switch to AC and charge the battery (with the non-existant power), thus causing the shutdown. I'm not that familiar with the internals of a CF-27 so I don't know how much you would have to replace parts wise. Given the age and cost of parts vs an entire working unit, swapping the entire unit may be easier.
