I played with one of these last year for a while. Advice people gave me was to try to "re-purpose" the cells in the battery. There are apparently companies that do this but someone handy could do it also. There are several users on this forum with CF-27's that might have some insight into your problem. You can also use this search tool: https://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=TEST+site:forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic
Replace TEST with your searchable word(s) and see what comes up. Lastly, there is a guy in Washington State on Ebay (soulvow) that sells hard drives for cf-27's and is somewhat of an expert on these as far as the operating systems go. You might try contacting him:
    soulvow | eBay
If you "contact seller" on one of his auctions and ask your question, he might be able to answer you. Very nice guy.
    Regards,
    Cleve

Your battery is definitely toast on a stick.... Sounds like your screen too!

Good luck, I have a Mk-3 and other than DSL linux (which has crappy wireless support) I have not found a linux distro that the machine will boot from. The biggest problem is the pre-1999 bios from what I have read. If you can find them win 98 and possibly Win 2000 will run on it. If all else fails you might find a replacement screen on ebay.

Yes it has been back in development but the wireless issues remain, hopefully they will get it worked out. It could be a great resource for people with older hardware who want to put it to use.

Before you try new screen try some new RAM. Better yet just pull out the RAM chip and wipe the connections. You might be surprised. Take care and keep touch.
