Yes you can
thanks for the info too bad they are over $200 bucks but if you really need one i guess now we know where to get one.

I think you can just call Heartland too. $278 should be around the normal street price for it, it's $299 MSRP.
I'm working on more details on the Wiki and cleaning it up now before rolling it out...

the emissive keyboard for the 29 is N2ABZY000030
-
I just lucked out... I just bought 5 CF-29s from a police dept and they ALL had the emissive keyboards. That will be a HUGE selling point for me when they go on ebay!
-
Nice Find there toughbook you really did luck out i mean five of them that is big bucks right there.
Do you scout out TB and offer to buy them? I would guess that most of your stuff you get locally right. You Probably get a way better deal off of ebay so you can at least make some profit off these when you sell them.
Well good luck on the sales I know those KB's will defiantly help out there are so rare and hard to find for under $200
-James -
Sort of funny that the parts are worth more than the whole.

You have the rocks and shave the cedar for packing.
Don't forget to add "Rare and Vintage", it's all in the marketing. -
did you check ebay? that is the part # i put in my cf-30 for $150+shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-Emissive-Backlit-Keyboard-CF-WKB293AM_W0QQitemZ120169603693QQihZ002QQcategoryZ31568QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

I think that is the rubberized backlit keyboard in that auction... A little overpriced at at that. I paid 110.00 for a new rubberized CF-30 keyboard a while back on Ebay...
-
One time i (my company) bought a cf-27 for $50 and sold it for $441 worth of parts on ebay -
Sometimes it really is better just to part stuff out you make so much more.
When I am looking for a part I try to find broken units and then pick off what i need sell the rest and make back all the money i spent on it

Yall look and compare and let me know. I REALLY want one. Im actually on the verge of paying the full 200 for it though.

Rob,
I bought a cf-27 about 3 years ago, its actually the only cf-27 that Ive ever owned.
The only reason I bought it was for the options it had.
It was in like new condition for $425.
It had a lind dc/dc adapter included, at the time hard to find and worth about $80
And a backlit rubber keyboard in new condition worth well over $150 or so .
I installed a new French backlit rubber keyboard on it, which I bought from a Canadian seller that had them in bulk and was selling them for about $30, and sold the complete laptop for more than the original price.

That $150 keyboard is a lot different than the rubber keyboards that I have on my cf-29s
The rubber keyboards that I have are 1 colour ,as they are completely sealed.
The keyboard in the picture is 2 tone.

Ya it is not rubber. They are plastic keys and it is backlit. It is a emmisive backlit keyboard. That is why it costs so much more than a rubber keyboard. They are much better to type on then the rubber one and yet you can still have backlighting. Everyone seems to want these keyboard and they are kinda hard to find at times and usualy cost more than $100 bucks

whew! Ok now i can breathe knowing that i didnt buy the wrong keyboard. lol. thanks for the input fellas. Now for my next question... will this go with my CF-28? <crosses fingers>
-
manikhispanik, it is emmissive, not rubberized. i'm typing on it right now in the dark! it has a red F11 key, 4 illumination levels and an off level (installed on a cf-30) and types great, but i have no idea if it will work in a cf-28-good luck to ya!
-
It should work on the cf-28 but since it has three connectors i am not sure. If the cf-28 can take 3 connectors then it should work. I have never had a cf-28 so i am not positive about it. Read the cf-28 keyboard thread it might some good info.
-
AAWESOME GUYS THANKS! Whew im gonna have to get on some valume or somthing after all this lol...

manik-
You were already told this keyboard will not work on the CF-28 in the other thread did you not see the post?. The CF-28 uses an Eloctroluniscent keyboard and requires additional circuitry to bring the correct voltage to that third connector. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
On bright note it will still work as a keyboard but the lights will not work.
