Hi everyone
I just purchased a CF28 800MHz/256MB/12" off ebay as is intending to install Windows 98 and Windows XP for some legacy software I need to run. The thing looks mint. You could mistake it for out of the box new if it wasnt for a light black scuff on the hinge. This issue is of course that it doesnt power up, and that was the risk I took buying as-is and untested.
So I found the service manual and will try to disassemble it this weekend. Is there any common failures that might cause this just to narrow down what I should be looking at?
Thanks.

Do you get any lights or signs of life at all?

We need @Toughbook (Rick) for this. Over the years he has rebuild lots of 28's. He's the guy to see.

Start with power but also is ram installed?
Use the correct power supply.
Test the power supply.
Test the on switch.
This could be the result of previous users using 20V power supply or???? and popping a fuse.
Where's Rick?Attached Files:

My thoughts are... Check the RAM first. Then check the square (or rectangular) white fuses on the motherboard. They are the only thing on the mobo that are pure white. Check for continuity! Report back!
