I have two CF-29L's. One of the units keeps showing a yellow(!) over the Intel 2915abg card in the device manager. When I bring up the property's is shows the code 10 error (This device can not start). After doing a system restore and playing with drivers I figured it was just a bad card. So I swapped it out with a know working card from my second CF-29. Once again I got the same error. So at this point I went back to thinking its a driver issue. So I swapped out the hdds. I still got the same error. After beating my head on the floor for a few minutes i put the Wifi card and hdd from the problem unit in my known to be working CF-29 and it all works fine. So at this point Im thinking its a mother board issue.
What id really like to know is, are there any tricks to try or tips that might work before I give up and send the unit to heartland for repair. I really hate to spend 300.00 if its just something im overlooking. Oh yea I forgot to say that wlan is turned on in the bios and I have also tried F9 in bios to restore default settings. Thanks in advance

Again set the bios to default setting. Setting the bios into default must be standard to all the toughbook that bought from anywhere else so that you have a factory setting.
This is a must to a newly acquired unit, used or new.

I Just updated the bios from V4.00L11 to V4.00L14 and Controller is still V4.00L13 with no luck. Im still getting same error and the event viewer log shows 8 events of the same error (w29n51 event 5031) and one (w29n51 event 5005) with every star up. Im starting to wonder if I should send it off a high bridge rather than heartland services...

Tried cleaning it again with no luck. I even looked for cracked and cold solder joints at the base of the pins.

Just for fun, remove cd drive, ram sticks etc.. Then you could Try the "bare" machine.
Next try this
If you hit f2 at the Panasonic boot screen, it should show you the text of the bios post. Maybe it will show something. -
Viewed post using the ESC key. All passed. Removed ram and cd drive. with no luck. opened base again and removed SD card slot and booted again with the same error.

I have never seen a wifi slot go bad on the hundreds of Toughbooks that I have built or worked on. This is going to be weird easy fix I would think.
I would check the contacts again that the wifi card plugs into. I would also load the most current driver or swap in an Engenous card to see if that would work. (With he appropriate driver of course.)
Or you may want to uninstall the driver for the card in Device Manager and reboot to let it reinstall. -
You haven't yet answer whether or not you reset the bios into default setting.

Ok I have tried cleaning the port again and tried swapping other 2915abg cards (Since thats all I have on hand). Still a no go. I swapped the HDD with a new one and did a fresh install just to rule the drive out. While doing the install I noticed at the nework screen the computer lagged for close to 10 minutes. Im going to try a new install without the card installed to see if it still lags at the network setup screen.

Yes I am using the 3 cd set (mk4-xp2m-tsw)

Did you ever fix the problem?
How about checking your security. Accidentally using more than one firewall or anti virus will cause the same problem.
Just please, don't ask me how I know
