    I have a cf29 mk1 toughbook with a painfully slow dial up modem. The pages will sit blank for ever and then load all at once.
    Im running win xp pro and downloaded the driver package CF29MK1.zip and reloaded the driver for the modem but it did not help. The modem is also comimg up as a agere modem but is called a Ambit T60M283 on the rear of the computer.
    Any help would be greatfully received.

    Thx

    I don't think it's your dial up modem. What is your full model number and how much memory is installed.

    It's normal for dial up modem. 56Kbit/s max, while websites are very heavy (Mbytes) now.
    Why do you have to use it?

    Its the only connection i have here. I have a cf28 which on dial up here is much faster than the cf29. I was using a mk 1 driver for the modem so maybe now ill have better luck.
    Thx all

    What Web Browser are you using? if you are still using Internet Explorer it will be slowing you down some. Use some of the newer Web browsers. For example I use firefox. Then go to settings and set up your cache file. 1gb is the max. What the cache does is saves Web pages you go to a lot and saves the pictures on the page and instead or redownloading the pictures on the page it pulls them from the local file for quicker loads. Then I would go to add ons and get flash block and ad block plus. With these two it will block unwanted ads for less data use per page. If you want to do more Google "configure firefox for and slow connection guide" that guide will show how to and cess fire fox's hidden settings.

    @Fang88 :
    "Use high speed ISP, nobody use Dial up in these days"
    as the OP said : "Its the only connection i have here"
    sooo ... that kind of precludes the OP from even considering your non-relevant and less-than-constructive reply .
    there are plenty of people in the world that use dial-up because of availability and economic considerations .

    It hasn't been really that long ago I still had dialup and dial up speed on my smartphone (in my local area), it's only been the last three or four years till DSL finally was in my area. When I wanted linux disks and stuff I had to go to the library and borrow there wifi or go to ondisk and order one for 3 or 5 bucks per disk.
