I've searched some here and internet, and did not mine the info I'm looking for.

I have CF-30 FASCZAM (MK2) machine running the backlevel XP. Love it. Does every thing I need it to. While I don't have a need to go to win7 or Win8, for the $39 upgrade to win8, I consider it just to keep with "current" software. That typed, is it worth is for folks who have made the switch? If I go Win8, after installing the win7 drivers etc, will I have 100% functionality? The machines current primary usage is HPTuners, have a USB DVD drive, dock with external screen and 4G ram(yea, uses 3 something).

    Thanks in advance!

Win 7 runs nice on cf30 mk2...It really runs nice on a properly prepared SSD.
Personally, I will pass on Win 8. I don't like it.

I am with Shawn...I will pass on W8 and go with W7, adding a SSD will give it lots of "get up and go". It's well worth the upgrade.

should have included, I'm currently running with a hyperx 120G ssd. Is there a detailed how-to on the win7 install for the mk2? and, happen to know where/how I could get win7 cheap - legally?

    Thanks in advance

Nothing on W7 for the 30 mk2 but will check when I get home. Watch for a thread soon because a couple of us are having problems with the W7 install. watch ebay for cheap W7. I got mine a couple years ago for $59.00 each...bought 4 copies of it.

Two weeks ago I bought a couple of "genuine" activation keys on the bay for very little, used them with the downloaded W7 Ultimate image.
    So far so good...

I have put windows 7 on two Mk2's so far and haven't had any problems. What drivers that didn't want to load normally loaded though devicemanager.
