    Hi Guys
I swapped out the standard optical drive in my CF30 for a Sony Optiarc AD5540, and discovered last night when I went to upgrade my HDD to a SSD that my CF30 simply does not recognize the new optical drive as a drive it can boot from, so I had to pull the caddy apart and refit the original optical drive

is there any way to get around this?

Panasonic used to short two pins together to make their drives appear as the master drive. I am not sure which pins but maybe someone will remember and add to this thread...
This was with the old IDE drives and I am not sure if it is still needed with the SATA drives used now

I used a propane torch. ROFL (I'm joking)

I bought a cheap hot air re-work station with soldering iron attachment. Good expense.
