CF31 Battery

I gave my Grand son my CF30 after giving it a spring cleaning. I am now working on my CF31, it runs well, I have just purchased a TecroTech Camera for it, should be here Saturday.

I was wondering if there kits available to rebuild the Battery. I would like it to work as well as an OEM one if not better. Any one have any advice for this, Thanks

 

After looking at a few YouTube Video's and talking points, I don't think I will play with repairing the battery.
I have got it to run for 5 hours on a 25% dim screen and not touching the key board. I would like to get a new OEM battery but do not know if they are still made or how long they have been on the shelf. Any body know this.

 

Plenty of used batteries on sleazebay and occasionally a batch of new ones show up. The ones I gathered from CF-29s and 30s are all being put to use in the CF-31s that I use daily. I must have around 10 OEM batteries and a car charger so I am sure to never run out of power. These days a brand new OEM battery can turn out to be the price of three or more used ones, so I generally don't think they are worth the expense.

I'm getting to thinking your right. The OEM one I have kicked back into life after a couple of charge/discharges, I was surprised. I don't use it a great deal now as I'm home most of the time and use the desk top. Thanks for the reply.

 

I have yet to hear about a successful battery rebuild for a Toughbook. There is a chip in the battery that would need to be reflashed to tell the battery it is new. Nobody, except Panasonic, has that tool.

You are talking about potentially explosive Lithium Ion batteries. No need to build an accidental bomb to get more power.

 

I'm happy with the OEM one that came the CF31 will get a 2nd used one from ebay later. It was just a thought as I was not sure if the new batteries were still made or had been on the self for a few years? If I was certain they were new/new I might just buy one.

 

If I was willing to sacrifice a good battery, I could use my programmer to read the chip. Then use that image to flash a blank chip to replace into the refreshed battery.
That would get around having to reset the battery.

Lots of work though.

 

That's way above my pay scale Shawn. I saw on the Panasonic website that they are still selling CF31's, so I may just look into seeing if they have new battery's. If not I have a car charger to get me through.
