Does anybody know which parts does Panasonic use for the CF50 UXGA screen? Is it the same as the CF51? I have heard that the CF51 screen is the same as the thinkpad T40 series high resolution screen so I was hoping to bring my CF50 back to life with the many thinkpad screens available second hand.

    Hey...

I have found IDTech ITUX97C in CF-50'S UXGA models. A Great replacement is the Sharp LQ150U1LW22N. The ThinkPad’s may not be 1200 X 1600 resolution...But the ??? X 1050 resolution which is NOT compatible.

I don't know about Panasonic for sure, but in my limited research I found most manufacturers use quite a variety of lcd's. Whatever is cheapest and most available I suppose. I recently replaced a lcd in a CF 50. I just searched for the same size and resolution. It worked for me. My research showed that the connectors are standardized.

I used a HANNSTAR HSD150PU13-A and it seems to be working fine. I needed to match it's size and resolution to the cable and inverter I had. I think it is UXGA and the CF 50 motherboard I was working on was XGA. Plugged it in and it works fine, at the lower XGA resolution of course. The mix of parts was due to the fact that I used the top lcd housing/inverter/cable from a different unit which was UXGA.

I found that the CF 50 uses the same 14" inch screen as a CF 48 and I imagine the same 15" screen as a CF51.

Be very careful in trying to swap between the 50 and 51. I tried in the past and the biggest problem I had is that depending on the LCD, the type and number of connectors is different. The later models with the dual core had the better resolution, but also different connectors. Some of the LCD's have one, while others have two connectors, and they are not the same type either.
