Bought a CF51. Found out it had 11670 hours on it. The touchpad could use replacing. I have a touchpad and would sure appreciate some guidance on replacing it. Anybody done this before?

    Thanks!

Sure have...fun  . It's not too hard of a job. You will need to remove the keyboard and the whole top. I had some pictures...will see if I can find them.

What is the trick to getting the touchpad out of it's frame once you have the bottom off? The plastic on the frame holding them in seems very fragile.

I can't remember what I did, but I would suggest a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen any adhesive.

No adhesive that I have seen. It looks like you have to pry it out of a frame. I just don't want to break that frame.

Once you have the palm rest off the touch pan is very easy to pop out. I used a #1,0 Wiha screwdriver and a little pressure on the touch pad and it popped right out...check out the red arrows where it snaps in or out. :D ...you could use a knife too but if you are like me someone is going to get cut.... There is no adhesive like some toughbooks on the 51 which I just found out.

That was a very expensive bagel. Hope my son appreciates what a father will suffer to feed his children.
