    CF 52....BIOS locked.

    Current wifi/WLAN card is a Intel 5100.
I want to use a Intel 5300. I know a 5300 will work in a CF 52. The 5300 will double the speed once I add a third antenna.
Any chance swapping the cards will disable WLAN in the BIOS?.....I don't believe it will, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I don't think so,can't see how it could as I have switched cards a bunch ....because I'm a tard and failed to read about which card to use in a 52.

If it's possible to get Atheros for a test - try it.
AR9280 is a great card. And I think it has to work.
Or AR9380 if you want to install 3rd antenna.
    I've just bought AC7260, but it's more for fun. I have ~20MB/s on my AR9280 (2.4GHz, N).
Intel 5300 is too old and it will not make you happy :)))

I agree that Atheros makes a better card...but the CF52G does have a white list in the BIOS. Without major hacking of the BIOS, the Atheros will not work. I have tried before. The only "easy" upgrade is the Intel 5300. The 5300 requires a third antenna also....I am going to install that also..
